Which is a very good thing as it finances public sector pensions.... :D

For people who then complain who then complain they aren't paid enough... its a mad old world.

The good news is apparently they can't change some of the pension tax rules around higher earners tax relief because it would upset the unions too much..

Higher earners. Being protected by the unions. In the public sector.

Tax is unbalanced not too high.

It may be historically high for the UK, but our tax burden (tax revenue % of GDP) is 5th lowest in the G7. When you take other advanced economies it gets much lower.

It's actually lower for middle earners but much higher for higher earners.

I assume those other G7 economies you refer to have lower state involvement, provide less generous state funded health and (public sector) pensions too?

We won't agree. I think the govt gets involved in too much and wastes it because productivity in the public sector is so poor... you would probably like them to do everything for you and make all decisions and tax someone else to pay for it...

What Ian means is he thinks he pays too much income tax personally 😉.

Ian is fine thanks, I think govt takes too much money and pees it away and gets poor value for money...

I'd say Stramer's suits = Johnson's wallpaper so they are fair game. Pop stars security after a terrorist plot had just been thwarted no matter who requested = utter ******* ****

I agree that Budget is the big story. We all now repairing the countries finances/infrastructure is a massive task after 14 years of chaos. Personally I don't think Reeves has the ideas or wriggle room to do much about it bar managing our decline. She has boxed herself in with all these crazy pre election promises and will now have to live with the millstone around her neck.

You can't tax your way out of this problem, tax take is already too high. All she will do is pee off a lot of people whilst wasting it on achieving a decline. Glad we agree on that...

Why the sneer at me in the last line? Ouch only joking! You seem angst I talked to a politician.
But yes political debate between us is pointless. We agree on something.

Chris using puerile playground name calling. He would never be so hypocritical.. Was he suggesting that only clever people vote labour. Or clever people only vote Labour? we know both of those are wrong....

    Hi,
Sorry to bother you. I believe you worked for a hotel chain in London and previously had access to discount codes.
It’s a bit of a long shot and very last minute. But could you let me know if this is still the case.
I only ask as my part is due to go to London on Friday and the hotel she was booked into has canceled last minute.
    Thanks
    Andy ...

Hi. I'm a season ticket holder who unfortunately will be travelling to Gran Canaria on 8th of Jan.
Happy to get you a ticket for Chelsea if you're struggling. Regards Nigel.

Thanks for the invite - would have loved to have joined you but I am moving house tomorrow so day not in the office or in London!
Might have joined as the political conversations might have been more up my street than most on the board!

If you live in London, you're welcome to join a couple of Spireites tomorrow (Monday) evening where the main topic of conversation will be Chesterfield FC amongst other things. All very friendly. We'll be in the Williamson Tavern near St Pauls about 7.30. Sorry for the short notice.
    regards
    John
