    Why would they

Same reason many sports bars will be open showing every game that they can, it will bring in custom. Even if they just showed the home nations and their groups, or the big teams / big games / anything that starts at the right time when they dont have bookings and can get staff...

And here was me thinking Chris would be posting about the IMF increasing their growth prediction for the year, expecting interest rates down three times, and now I hear giving us the fastest growth in major European economies over the next 6 years.

    Bloody brexit...

As you know Chris, I wasnt a vote leave person but how do you square that data with brexit is all bad and nothing good will become of it?

Its certainly been good for the town, I was up in town from Saturday until today, and was looking for a hotel rather than staying at my Mum's..... but nothing available anywhere close by!

Great to get the gig for the town and for the club...

Sorry to hear of your experiences but you can't blame a perfectly legal pass time that millions enjoy responsibly, wether it be horses, football, bingo, lottery or a raffle. A bit like condeming alcohol, another thing that millions enjoy responsibly, because someone doesn't know when to stop and becomes addicted.

Funny you should mention that, my wife was an alcoholic before she passed away. So yes, I believe there need to be good controls around availability, purchase by underage, price controls (the one thing I think Scotland have got right) and education.

Agreed both can be great when enjoyed responsibly but sadly because of the world we live in we have to manage to the lowest common denominator or else they will no doubt sue the govt / those that provide it / those that sell it at some stage in future.

It was the fags that killed my dad, I've got a full house! Funnily enough I dont gamble and I dont smoke (occasional punt on the lottery not withstanding where I dont expect to win!) but I do drink, and probably more than the medically approved amount...

Everything - gambling, alcohol etc - is so easily available these days, controls have to be much stronger. When my wife ran out she had to stop, these days get on line and get it whooshed by Tesco and carry on...

And of course there was always a chance we wouldnt finish 3rd, say if the Kirks had decided not to invest more, or Cookie had been poached, or a couple of the other teams had hit a mad winning run like last season. OR IF PUTIN FIRED A MISSILE AT THE SMH, OR MARTIANS INVADED OR MANDEVILLE CHOKED ON A KEBAB OR IF ALL THE TEAM WERE KIDNAPPED BY A GREEN MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE.
Stop digging that hole and just be happy for a Town Fan who raked in a few quid.

If it was guaranteed then the bookies wouldnt offer the odds, as they win overall...

I am glad Pete won, I've met him a few times, but I'm not a fan of gambling. If you'd had to borrow £5k when just married to pay off your brother in laws bailiffs (he was still living at home... and his initial was same as his Dad's so they were after family assets and father in law was too stubborn to pay) as a result of a gambling addiction, maybe you would be less positive about it. Something ironic about working for one of the UKs most prestigious casinos where people could lose £3m a year, difference being that they could afford it!

Have a good eve, no need to shout... :)

    Hi,
Sorry to bother you. I believe you worked for a hotel chain in London and previously had access to discount codes.
It’s a bit of a long shot and very last minute. But could you let me know if this is still the case.
I only ask as my part is due to go to London on Friday and the hotel she was booked into has canceled last minute.
    Thanks
    Andy ...

Hi. I'm a season ticket holder who unfortunately will be travelling to Gran Canaria on 8th of Jan.
Happy to get you a ticket for Chelsea if you're struggling. Regards Nigel.

Thanks for the invite - would have loved to have joined you but I am moving house tomorrow so day not in the office or in London!
Might have joined as the political conversations might have been more up my street than most on the board!

If you live in London, you're welcome to join a couple of Spireites tomorrow (Monday) evening where the main topic of conversation will be Chesterfield FC amongst other things. All very friendly. We'll be in the Williamson Tavern near St Pauls about 7.30. Sorry for the short notice.
    regards
    John
