I took the dog out at 6am and everywhere was boggy, the rain hasn’t subsided nor is it due to according to the forecast.
I’m leaning towards this game being called off.

I know we've had a couple or more snowed/frozen off but the way the pitch drains, I can't see how, barring a biblical deluge immediately before kick-off that the game will be in danger.

I hope you’re right Tim as I’m really looking forward to this. There are now local flood warnings being issued regarding the River Rother. We just had a “Red” warning here in Tapton. Not that Tapton is going to flood mind but it seems we should expect the Rother to be bursting its banks later today.

Fully expect it to be game on. I've seen pictures of Hornsbridge and Chatsworth Road and it's causing issues today for sure.

Yep I’m seeing similar. Looks like it will stop raining early tomorrow morning. The we have the runoff to contend with. Hopefully we’ll be ok.

Its dire in meadowhall, the bridge over the river to meadowhall has been closed its so bad but hows the pitch hold up, does it have under soil heating been a modernish stadium? A pitch inspection needs to by done by ten i say. Lets hope it aint called off and moved to mid-week as thar would heavily dilute the away following

Under soil heating? Doesn’t have much effect in cases of flooding!

It’s not just the pitch though that could cause issues. We have to assume the opposition and their fans can get here. From what I gather, it’s pretty bad up there.

The slight difference was that half of CHesterfield wasnt under a few feet of water....Chatsworth Rd from Barker Lane to town is currently a river!! Taken my wife 3 hours to get home from Alfreton as there is pretty much no way of getting across Chesterfield that isnt flooded.
I work at Chesterfield College and they packed students off home at 10am, schools have shut to get folk home etc.

There was a lot of flooding on the day of the Wrexham game. As soon as it stops raining, it’ll all clear quickly. I hope they don’t go too early with the decision and postpone today or something

Yeh it could well be one of those where the pitch is fine but its folk getting there etc. Not much of CHesterfield is passable currently let alone getting here from further away. Once it stops it normally drains away of the roads etc quite quickly but the mess it leaves behind will take some clearing up.
When it was bad back in 2007 i drove down Chatsworth Rd about 6am the following morning, no water anywhere but it left a right mess of silt not to mention cars washed into strange places etc.
