Rochdale and Wealdstone games also called off. There are going to be some teams rueing these decisions, as it gets to the nitty gritty end of the season.

So they have to rip it up once promoted? Odd.

Not every club can afford to maintain turf pitches and the artificial surfaces have income value all year round.
God I hate this league.

always frustrating when games are called off but it may not be the worst thing as it gives berry, colclough and freckleton more chance of being involved in that game when it is rearranged, plus the 3 of them may now feature in the thinking for saturday

Freckington has had a relapse and Colclough who is stepping up his running this week sounds a fortnight away (hopefully to one Webb's fortnights)

Wealdstone match is only off because they are playing their FA Trophy game at home to Hendon tonight.

The game is being played at Hendon because Wealdstones pitch failed a pitch inspection.

Surely, a huge problem here is that rugby has more clout than footie at Halifax by virtue of the fact that they don’t give a Bunkum about the state of the pitch? A rugby match there tonight would not have been postponed no matter how much HTFC protested. It’s not a sustainable state at that venue with its history.

Irony.

Complaining about the all weather uniformity of Bromley's pitch on Sat'di, but then complaining about the seventies style allotment at Halifax on a Tuesday...

PS: a pitch which brought back memories of Dickie Davies, Kent Walton and Kendo Nagasaki to those of a certain age...

The Baseball Ground has to be one of the worst pitches in living memory. Remember the groundsman having to come on and paint the penalty spot during a game so Kevin Hector (I think!) could take a spot kick!

Not a chance that the game would be on. It has been hammering it down here and really strong winds all afternoon. The whole area for the past few weeks has had loads of rain, fields are saturated as well. I live 5 miles from the ground.

I'd just point out that Halifax Panthers RL have only played one game at the Shay in the Challenge Cup on the 11th of Feb this year/season, their next game is in the next round this Saturday and they don't play at home in the Championship until April 7th. One game of Rugby does not cause that damage especially in Rugby League, had it been Union with scrums etc then maybe.

Loads of pitches like that during the 70s,as you obviously remember, and they weren't all lower league clubs either. Yes, I think I do remember that match being exceptionally muddy.

On a selfish note, this suits me as I’d have struggled to watch the match from a caravan in Wales. Here’s hoping our rivals slip up, not that it really matters any more, as we are far too good to throw this lead away.
These go to eleven.
