I am sure many people on this board will know him due to his tremendous contribution to local football.
Our thoughts and sympathies to his friends and family.
RIP Tom and God bless.

A gentleman who I have known for some 40 odd years since playing for the Holymoorside team that won the Byron Cup in 1972 against Tibshelf YC at Saltergate
I last had the pleasure of speaking to Tom just after his 100th birthday and he could still recall the good times we had with that team
The stories of Tom and his contributions to local football over the years are legendary and he will
be sadly missed by so many
The final irony is that people will be paying their respects to Tom at his funeral because he used to quip that he was attending funerals of that many people that he did not know if there would be anyone left to attend his own
If someone knows the details of Toms funeral could they post on here thank you

An old guy in a suit and hat used to walk through, watch a while, and then move on. We asked Phil if he knew the guy, and he said that's Tom Brocklehurst. He went on to explain that he was football encyclopedia. Soon after, he'd stop and offer a line of encouragement to some of us, and as kids we hung off Tom's advice. Our weekly question was "did you do Tom's practice?" as if it were homework.
A pal in the same class used to say when coaching "Tom Brocklehurst taught me this..." I wonder how many people can say they were influenced in some way by Tom?
Rest in peace, Tom. My thoughts are with your family and loved ones.

If everyone who had been influenced by Tom in his long involvment in football turned up to pay their respects at his funeral the Proact stadium would not be big enough
The story goes that because Tom was driving well into his 90s when he went to any committee meeting
the other members would delay their arrival until they saw where Tom had parked because bless him parking
at that time was not his strong point

The naming of a stand after Tom is a very good idea RS as it would mean his name would be forever remembered
but as you say very few people at the club would know who he was and his contribution to football in
the Derbyshire area over the decades so I would think the chances are very slim
