Yet, I see Akinola as more of a defensive midfielder than attacking one. He likes a tackle and, yes, he can drive forward with the ball but in his last spell with us he never bulged the net and rarely provided an assist. Positional sense and anticipating danger are part of Jones game and perhaps these are the key areas that Akinola needs to improve in.
We only have one more slot to fill in respect of our maximum 22 man outfield squad. For me, we have probably got too many players for the 5 positions behind the lone striker but not enough for the 4 in front of the keeper. I still have a feeling that Freckleton will return to cover both LB and LCB and I wonder if we might sign another U21 player to do similar on the right side.
Other than that, I do wonder if we are getting to the ?one in? for ?one out? stage other than the signing of another keeper which, of course, could still be Tyrer.
I'll keep saying it that there's lots more to like about Freckleton's game than there is to dislike.
As you've said, I think you're right that Akinola is the Mike Jones of the future. -

It never ceases to amaze me the number of experts who know what needs to be done before they know team format, players or tactics to be employed in league 2 as determined by the manager.
I say it every year, give it 10 games in anger before making a judgment
Correct, I think we'd make a decent go of things in league 2 with what we've got now plus the addition of a few decent under 21 prospects. -

I know we need strengthening at Centre Back but Grimes was in the national league team of the season this year.
I guess Cook doesn't know what he's doing brining in players and developing players who were already here...
That's what we need to do, develop players. Grimes is more than a decent centre half for league two. I'd like to see Freckleton here and another equally decent right sided defender too. -
