Stargazing Live returns for the next 3 nights on BBC2 prior to Friday's Solar Eclipse and Chesterfield Observatory will also be open to the general public each night from 8pm holding its' own Stargazing event.
I went last. year and it is a fantastic evening, Viewing the Moon Jupiter and the Andromeda Galaxy was mind-blowing . For the next 3 nights all of Jupiter's 4 moons are in alignment on its' right hand side which will be exciting sight in itself. It is free and any donations however small are welcome towards the upkeep of the telescope etc
. I know some of you expressed interest after the event last year- so get yourselves off to Newbold you won't regret it

I went round to deano_cfc's house last week, his wife has a decent telescope. Got to see Jupiter and its moons and also some other stuff that I cant remember the names of. Fascinating it was and so clear.
We are going to get a good view of the eclipse by all accounts, I'm looking forward to it.

It's also a super new moon tomorrow night, lets hope the smog and clouds don't ruin the views

Went to the observatory last night. A really good hour or so and the group there are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Saw Jupiter really clearly from a variety of telescopes, plus Venus and some 'baby star' clusters. There was a talk being given on Jupiter as well.
Well worth a visit tonight if anyone hasn't been.
