Most over 65s (or soon to be 66s and then even older) are pensioners and pension income is invariably considerably less than what the individual would have earned when working. I guess that pensioner concessions for a few things (certainly not everything) were aimed at making things more affordable when this sudden reduction in income occurs late in life. Long may it continue!

Also 65 year olds have been paying full price for the last 40 odd years so a little discount when a lot are harder up is reasonable imo.

I think a good portion would take umbrage with how many of them have the final salary pension for life bit. But, notwithstanding, the generation of which you refer, the one I belong to, has been very lucky compared to our war veteran parents and our offspring.

Complete rubbish. How do work out they bought their house for next to nothing? I bought my house for £3750 when I was on £15/week now go to today say my wage is £450/week thats a 30x increase that now makes the same house now £112500 assuming houses increased at the Same rate as wages which of course they didn't they rose by much more. Not many have final salary pensions. So my advice to you is try talking sense for once

Just like you will when you are their age. If you were not so dumb and uneducated you could earn a proper wage and not be so jealous of people are smarter than you

What if he doesn't make 65? The longer you live, the more you save. As if the Good Lord isn't blessing you enough.

People who have contributed to society all their lives deserve everything they get back from society in later life. It is probably the pensioners you are talking about in your posts that were paying for your education, health service or any benefits your family received through the taxes they were paying.
