Any Rumours?

Sheckleford is fine as starting RB for me, before he picked up his injury he looked solid and more than comfortable against higher level opposition in the cup. I would still get another RB for depth though as Mandeville is better than just a back up RB.

Must admit from a quick count up from the players in and out of contract thread I had counted Connor Cook as part of the squad number. As such, I thought we were up to 23 outfield players over 21 when it seems to be 22. So, if we only sign U21 players going forward there would not need to be any departures, loans out, or players not counted in the squad.
Interesting team selection now -
Boot
Mandeville, Dunkley, Grimes, Gordon
Naylor, Akinola
Colclough, Madden, Dobra
Grigg
???

Would absolutely love to see Tyrer back but not sure it?ll happen, either way I fully expect Boot to be No2 again this season with either Tyrer or AN Other as first choice.

Slight problem might be that neither colclough or dobra play well off the right, colclough looked like a fish out of water at the start of last season playing on the right

Agree that most of our attacking midfielders seem to prefer playing on the left. However, I think Dobra is also effective on the right; can't remember which home game towards the end of the season it was, but he ran through the opposition defence wide on the right and played a perfect ball in for Mandeville to score. I'm sure there are other examples where Dobra and Mandeville interchanged down the right to good effect.

Mandeville isn't and never will be a full back. He's an emergency stand-in only. As you rightly say, he's wasted so far back anyway, and some are trying to shoehorn him into the side believing others will be in front of him in the starting eleven, but, in my opinion, he'll play more games than he'll miss.
As for Sheckleford, he's getting better and it wouldn't surprise me if we go without signing another full back and rely on Williams to cover both defensive positions with Mandeville as a fill in.

We've signed Chey Dunkley anyway
Great observation.....Cooper plays left centre back and Dunkley plays right!
We still need to sign a left centre half and a right back in defence, plus a keeper if Tyrer isn't coming back as a minimum.
I would also suggest another quality defensive midfielder and fast (on loan striker) are on the agenda with Hobson, Quigley, Banks, DJ and Palmer leaving the building....

A mistake, yet to see Colclough play well on the right. Out of the two to go out their Dobra is the better option.
I agree, we seem to have an abundance of players who prefer the left side. Colclough and Berry, both find themselves out of their comfort zones playing on the right. Even Jacobs would rather steer clear. Dobra will have a stab at it and even Banks will try his luck out wide. This is why I think the lad from Macclesfield, Drummond won't go out on loan, but I know nowt 😁.

Colclough is the main man on the left. When fit, that left side is his all day long for me. Unplayable at times, can go left or right. Agree he looks awkward on the right strangely.
Also agree with others about Dobra still being comfortable on the right too. I?ve always thought his best position is behind the striker though anyway, as he?s impossible to pick up for opposition teams.
We know Cook will rotate them all throughout the season anyway, so it?s no problem that we have more than one player who can play in each of those positions, they?ll all contribute I?m sure.
