Exactly- it's a little sad to have a hatred for a team because of 17 years ago!

Add me to the sad club. When we went ther in the promotion season their fans did everything they could to goad both players and supporters alike. Not to mention attacking a fair few fans. Absolute W.ankers the lot of em including the p.a. man that must have thought it funny to play the music he did.

It's not at all. Football fans have long memories and rightly so in some cases.

Some of the old boys on here will be able to come up grudges that still exist from the 50s and 60s no doubt.

There were a few songs that they no doubt got every week back then.

'Does your boyfriend know you're here?'

'We can see you holding hands'

I'm pretty sure I recall a few bemused looks at a rendition of 'You only sing when you're feltching' which would be a remarkable skill if correct.

I still hate Stockport cos of them not giving the ball back after we kicked it out in the 92 or 93 equivalent of JPT semi final! So I find their general descent into non league very funny

And Dion Dublin and Cambridge cos of the 1990 play off final

So I am extremely sad then

In fairness to the Stockport fans the reception they gave whilst returning from Old Trafford was memorable!

Wow, some on here have very short memories.

Scummers the lot of them, remember being spat at, verbally abused and families being subjected to vitriolic abuse.

Same as Town Fan the only club I'd openly celebrate seeing go under.
Mug?? Being wrong never gets boring!

Friday March 23rd 2001 I rang brighton to enquire about the state of the pitch (the weather had been crap)for the following day and was told that there was no problem. We duly made our way, we had a weekend planned on arrival at our hotel I rang some London Spireites, I had their tickets to be told the game had been postponed that afternoon.
After a day on the pop on Saturday night I entered a boozer, my sensible other half paid a call I went to the bar, 3 youths with brighton tops emblazoned with "ground staff" on them were bragging how they had done the "northern bast...." by hosing the pitch for 2hours (apparently Adams had a touchline ban and Zamora was out)and getting the game off. At this point I spun the gobby one round by the shoulder and announced "unlucky, northern bast... here" and then warmly shook by the throat. Fortunately my sensible half returned I put him down the 3 didn't say a word and left. The landlord/barman didn't say owt I ordered a pint of Pride (london) and half a lager he gave me the drinks and said "on me I hate them cocky little bast....s I'm a Palace fan.

I also hate brighton 17 years on
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

"Where were you at Gillingham"

Seemed to rile them at that promotion night at the Withdean

I went the day before xmas eve for a night game in the 90's, there was under 4000 there. That was at the Goldstone Ground

30,000 plastics now, worse than Lincoln

You want to try living were I do. When ever I speak to Brighton fans about Chesterfield fans hatred of them, they just look at me with a blank face and haven't got a clue what I'm on about. Then you find out that they have only really been watching Brighton the past couple of years, before that they followed Chelsea!!

I remember when I first moved down to Mid Sussex in the early 90's, you would see more kids in Blackburn shirts (as they had just won the Prem) than Brighton shirts.

I was working in Berkshire with a colleague from Woking who supported Arsenal. He told me he had only been supporting them a couple of years and that he had been a Chelsea fan before that. In response to my utter incredulity he told me that all his mates tend to swap allegiances every couple of seasons.
These go to eleven.

I wouldn't hold back if faced with that.

My car got kicked to bits with me and a mate in it by Brighton fans on Saltergate after the Jamie Ingledow show. Not keen on them.

As an aside, that winner by Ingledow is one of my favourite Chesterfield goals of all time. Saltergate went absolutely batshat crazy. Great celebrations.

They may have played up a bit afterwards but they kept their heads down walking past the Labour Club pre match

Remember that game- had booked a weekend in brighton with a girlfriend of the time - she was delighted it was cancelled (found out when got off train) as it meant she didn't have to endure the game.

I suppose I'm a hypocrite as I bleedin hate Derby and Arsenal and really hate Burnley (please leave Dychey)!

I went to that game, came back with German Measles.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!
