But he is playing well under this manager - which is who he will be playing for going forward. Or does the manager and tactics not matter and a few bad games means he is pigeon holed?

You and Walton call him a "clogger" which is your opinion that you are more than welcome to have but that "clogger" is the team captain. We have a new manager in place that is turning the negativity around and has decided that our team captain should be that same "clogger".
A club from two divisions higher than us deemed him to be good enough to play for them and you both insult him by calling him a "clogger".
So to summarise up.
He's playing better for the new manager, he's team captain still and he is/was on the shopping list of a league one club. He's not a "clogger", he's been poor in poor sides.
But of course that's my opinion.

I think Evans is decent but if we can get money for him and he's on a decent wedge then makes sense.

He is replaceable (or he already has been).
