Pretty sure it was covered in fans forum minutes that the issue is the lack of extractor fans and it’s pretty much impossible to fit them now.

**edit**
Found them here - https://chesterfield...s-forum-notes-2

“Concourses
This has become a major issue, with supporters concerned with many aspects of the club’s offering. Price, quality and queuing were all discussed at length. Unfortunately, the existing physical design of the serving area negates some elements supporters had suggested, such as cooking (rather than warming, extraction problems) and pre-pouring drinks (space issue).”

I recall my old works canteen had limited food offerings due to not having extractor fans and they were costly to install, there was no deep fat fryers for starters. could the same thing be hampering selection at chesterfield fc?

I used to design extraction & ventilation systems…you can easily create a venting/extraction system up from the bar area & divert overhead with suspension system with extractor fan to the outside….its easy

I used to install them. And although the installation would be straightforward, we then had to integrate the fire warning and the fire suppression along with hood washdown into the current system and that's when the costs get tasty.
For a single outlet takeaway open 6 days a week payback would come much much quicker than the club with eight(?) concourse outlets cooking chips for an hour every 2 weeks.
They would never recoup the outlay.

Edit: Also as the oulets were designed as a food serving outlet and not a live kitchen, there would be no specific waste requirements. Install a cooking station and we would have start digging up the floors to install grease traps.

Read through this thread and many of the suggestions are excellent, there are lots of options where the customer experience could be improved.

Like Mr Snell said further up, the club have worked hard bringing in more fans, hell, we nearly sell out every home game so why don't they listen? Well my view is they are making money, a more than acceptable amount of money by doing nothing other than what they have done since we moved in to the stadium. The food hasn't changed but the punters now pay nearly double for it and they are more than likely selling more than double.

We moan on here, its brought up at the Fans Forum, ideas are passed on but no action is taken because the financial turnover as things currently are is satisfactory and the club doesn't want to spend more money.

Are they shooting themselves in the foot? I don't think they are because people are spending their money. Demand is high, profit is high (how much is a pie in Jacksons bakery shop or how much do they pay for those burgers?) They're on to a winner.

We all have a choice as to whether we buy the overpriced garbage or not.

Yep, basically sums it up. Voting with your wallet is the only way if the club isn't listening, simple as that.

I think on this subject the need for change is recognised in the Boardroom. Inertia from there is what we’ve been used to but .......it’s been brought up at the FF. A reduction of carpark spaces has been hinted at in a podcast. The Fanzone idea is progressing but is stuck in planning. I’d like to think that an announcement on this will follow shortly after the promotion party when, just maybe, the Kirks might announce more business partners. Putting everything into the melting pot and guessing, I think mobile food outlets might get berths at strategic points to supplement the Fanzone, relieving pressure in the concourses. On the other hand, I know nowt.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Yeah sounds costly. There is one solution, do stuff in a large kitchen on site and distribute it to all the kiosks. Chester city do this and chips were homeade too, recall someone bringing them to away food kiosk on a trolley in takeaway style packaging. Food was spot on

I agree whole heartedly but it just depends what the profit is being used for (Debt) or what is planned for going forward. Promotion could increase costs; the training ground upgrade has been completed with sponsorship but we don’t know if there was a short fall. I think there are exciting things in the pipe line which we are to be made aware of going forward. For sure record consistent attendances allow for the dream to continue.
God I hate this league.

I hope everyone will/has taken the opportunity to voice their opinions on the food offerings/service on survey the club has today put out:

You think it will make a difference? It’s not as if fans are only just bringing up their dissatisfaction about what’s on offer

Don’t talk wet. You know full well this subject has been brought up many times with the club.

Their inability to do anything about it is discussed on here and so it should be.

If nothing changes after this it would a surprise and render the exercise pretty pointless. You have to assume at this stage there’s a willingness to consider change.

Presumably this is off the back of the previous feedback and is to try and gather further opinions and ideas. Don’t think it should be written off as pointless just yet.

Links to the survey are on here and the website. It would be good it it was shared around the clubs social media network including 1866 Sport.

They've even stopped you going back into the ground for the toilet on the way out. Ridiculous - what can be gained from doing that? I was told "once you've left the stadium that's it"
