a few bad results and you'd think we were languishing in the bottom 2
the moaners are having a field day as we sit in the play off places with the best chance of promotion since we were demoted to this pub league
yes there have been a few poor performances but the position we are in and the prospects for the rest of the season are much better than they have been for a few years
on another thread I was challenged for defending Manchester City's decision to sack Mark Hughes, you can't compare the two situations really with City spending the money they have and Hughes failing to take them to the next level but the same people that seemed to think sacking Hughes was a disgrace with their logic being that City are 6th in the league are now having a pop at Sheridan when we are in a similar position in our division
moaning about the squad, (loans can be extended or just as good loan players/permanent signings found in January) moaning about the away form, (and forgetting how we've beat two very good sides away from home and how formidable our home form is) moaning about the manager (who has the side playing so much better football than Rico did) and just moaning in general for the sake of it
some people only seem happy if they are moaning, constructive critisism is fine and obviously it'd be nice to do better away from home but the club has a real chance of the play offs at least this season and after the last 2 shocking efforts under Richardson surely that is something to be positive about?

So do you honestly think with the players we have we are certs for the "play-offs".....because i don't!I'm not wanting Shez sacked or anything that drastic ,but its obvious to a blindman we are not as good as many any here would have you believe and until we become consistant home and away were treading water. Two away wins bye christmas is not promotion form.

Simply put no because its been points earned when our form at home as been good despite the shockingly poor away form ,we scraped a victory at home last time prior to that we lost to crewe and then we lose to a team that hadn't won in 10 ,what does that tell you about us?I really hope we stuff Rotherham on Monday but i can't see our defence keeping the likes of Le fondre quiet,if i was to put money on it ...away win!!as much as i don't like saying it.This game will be a test of how good we really are and i'm normally a positive thinking person but i fear the worst...i hope i'm wrong!

It's the midfield that is letting us down

Aup ernie..i think wer'e being let down not just in midfield but all over the park.Defensively we look slow & lacking in height particularly in the centre, the midfield couldn't string two passes together, the wingers promise alot but with little end result and often leave the defense exposed, and attacking we don't seem to beable convert enough of the chances that we do create!and the penalties wev'e missed ie crewe & today that would be at least 4 points better off we'd be....ffs if we can't score from a penalty!!!

Best chance of going up since 2 yrs ago, when we had 40pts from 22 games & still failed to make the play offs.

Home form provides optimism.
Sadly away form is what you would expect from a team fighting off relegation.

No surprise really after giving another two cheap goals away, with over 1100 on Boxing day and limited transport that was great support we deserved better on the pitch.....

Not knocking anyone who madethe journey but to there were nearly 1200 town fans tightly packed together, we were very quiet for 85 mins. It was obvious the players heads were down and they needed a lift. Boden came on and gave everyone hope, the crowd woke up and the players responded.
I know it's old chicken and the egg scenario but do we accept some responsibility for motivating the players away from home or do we sit and wait for things to change, largely in silence?
I've been in awaycrowds of less than 100 and we've made more noise than yesterday.

There fans only made a noise when they scored and when Jack missed the penalty, but thats what 2 goals does to you,it deflates you,i couldn't see a way back until Boden scored, don't blame the fans it is the players who were at fault, not that i am saying you are blaming the fans.
It was a strange game until they scored we didn't look in any danger, then maybe in the end we didn't deserve anything from it and had Jack scored the penalty we would have got out of jail......

Yeah we lost to Crewe because we hit the woodwork twice and missed 2 penos. Any other day, we'd have battered them.

I can remember when we had to be in that position to avoid relegation.
