Sounds like the deal is close, wouldn't surprise me if he jumped for Doyle, too once appointed.

Twitter rumours suggest he's off to replace Evo at Barrow.

Whatever Paul Cook has done at Wigan to change their mentality round has worked. I only saw them mired in trouble all season, now they are nearly as close to the playoffs as they are relegation after whooping Stoke 3-0 and apparently have not conceded in forever.

I can't state how much I (and probably most others) miss the days of having him here. To think back to when we hired such an innovative and forward thinking manager who made himself a part of the fabric of the club and gave us a team who on their day could whip anybody. Cause I'm bored I've just had a browse and we have won just 59 out of 222 league fixtures since he left. Phil really wasn't kidding when he said that was as good as it would get.

Wonder what’s the chances of Sam Hird getting the gig at Barrow?

I was chatting to a Stoke fan at work the other month, when Wigan were in the relegation zone. I warned the Stokie that Cookie's teams tend to finish seasons strongly. Even allowing for that, they're on an amazing run, whilst making me look quite knowledgeable.

Surely the EFL would still have to apply the penalty for entering admin during the season?

With the 12 point deduction it puts them bottom, 4 points from safety

Isn’t there some part of the rule where it says if it stops then going up or takes them into the relegation spots then it’s implemented this season? It only goes to next season if it has no impact this season? They made the change to stop clubs just doing when they were mid table and safe.

If the club is outside the relegation zone come the end of the season then the 12 point deduction implemented, if the club is already being relegated then they start next season on -12pts.

It’s a strange time to get rid of the manager. They’ve fell away since the restart but are still 12th so in no danger of going down.

I think at the beginning of the season the chairman was expecting thy me to make the playoffs at least. Think mathematically it’s gone now.

They haven't got a squad remotely good enough for the top 6.

3 year deal, on 'big money' according to Swindon who were also trying to sign him.

Devitt rumoured to be on Evo's radar, too!

E
Bolton apparently close to signing Sarcevic, too.

With a few more signings of his and Doyle’s standard, they should be a shoe-in for the title next season!
