I purchased one of those supersonic plug thinks - reviews were damn good and for first couple of weeks I noticed we didn't get any in the house (we normally get loads) so I presumed it was working.
this last week ive had 5 massive spiders in the house, even noticed one on the pillow next to me the other night after getting up in middle of night.
Any tips for keeping the things out?

We haven't had many spiders so far although it hasn't really been that cold yet. What we have had this year which we didn't last is loads of woodlice! All mainly around the front door and in the hallway/on the bottom of the stairs. I have probably cleared 25 out in the last week. No idea where they are getting in.

Conkers are a complete myth as is flushing them down the toilet or plug hole. As they can survive under water and will just climb back out. Why do people want to oust these wonderful creatures out of their houses is beyond me. If we see one in our house either my little boy or myself pick it up and move it so it won't be trodden on. We have never knowingly killed one. My wife tolerates them but won't pick them up

Yet another myth. What is this fear people have of harmless spiders, creatures that do nothing but good. Spiders worldwide eat between 400 - 800 million tons of insects according to a recent study. The wieght of insects eaten is approximately twice that of the entire human race

Well if you are scared I could always send my 8 year old round to move them out for you

With your big gob you're probably on 20 a year.
All that free organic protein.
It's just dawned on me that seeing as spiders are the best engineers on the planet, they produce the strongest fibre on the planet and are amongst the best hunters on the planet. With all these wonderful attributes I cannot envisage them wanting to go anywhere near your mouth,so you can sleep in peace. However dung beetles are a different proposition altogether. The perfect environment for them

But far fewer slugs and snails.
As for spiders, every British variety is harmless and they eat other, far less desirable creepy crawlies. So I just leave 'em to get on with it or, if the Wife gets her knickers in a twist over a particularly big 'un (steady missus...), gently pick it up and put it outside.

Apparently, some people even keep them as pets!
It’s the poisonous red/yellow centipedes and cockroaches that give me the shivers...and there are spiders here the size of crabs😵
