Won their player of the year award this year. What a career he’s had.

True CFC Legend if he plays in the Premier. It will be interesting to read if Cook gets some credit if they make it.

Brilliant player - one of my all-time favourites. As I posted a while ago, it's going to be a few more years before he drops down to our level.

Such a disgrace that Allen and his wicked assistant failed to back Cook and disbanded a team that Morsy would have thrived in the Championship 🤬

It's a long time ago and I might be wrong but I thought the fallout happened because Allen's fellow directors refused to back his plan to invest to back Cook, which urined him off.

Didn’t Allen have a meltdown about the attendances? To be honest the writing was on the wall when Doyle was sold and the non signing of Johnson even though he wanted to join us permanently 😡

The time line is crucial. Did the fallout happen before players were sold/not bought?

It was definitely after cos he spat the dummy out before that because the crowd wanted Saunders sacking.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Allen could have had all the plaudits had he backed Paul Cook. He could have had a street named after him, never had to buy a drink in the borough, and really stuck it to Sheffield Wednesday, but no. Him and the Assay office Renfield went all mardy ar..d on us. Running a football club isn't quite as easy to extract cash from the punters as it is with a casino, but it's not only Allen who's decided enoughs enough. Player after player was sold on, just to bring in deadwood on a last payday. No wonder the pair are hated so much. I've talked to fans up and down the land, and to a man they all hate him for what he did to our club.

I despise Carson but I won't go that far with Allen as after all he did give us a Championship, a Wembley cup win & the new stadium. These things in the positive column negate some of the negatives but not all.

A balanced comment IMO. I don't think it's right to totally condemn a bloke who chucked millions of pounds of his own money into the club, and never got it back. Of course all of us are far happier with the current situation where our benefactors are truly committed to the club and the town; long may it continue!

If Allen thought he was going to get richer by running a football club then he isn't a very canny businessman, but he is, so it was more about the status than him being some sort of South Yorkshire Mother Theresa. Yes we can thank him for the ground, Saunders, Caldwell, and all the dross brought in nicking a wage while the club went spiralling down into oblivion. He was more than happy to pull the plug. We should be thanking those who saved the club, including local councils, the trust and now the Kirk's.

To me Allen will always be remembered as the man that sent a traditional League 1/League 2 yo yo club of nearly 100 years, to 2 consecutive relegations to non league, and nearly a third without the intervention of Tom Dentons, Scott Boden and Nathan Tyson’s vital goals.

The man deserves no plaudits, he made some awful decisions at the time and to me is no better than Norton Lea and the Darren Brown’s of this world.

Anyway..to get the thread back on track, looks like Loz Maguire (technicaly not Ex- yet I know) is going to be in the L2 play-offs as things stand Crawley are in and Barrow miss out.

Maguire has been playing well for Crawley, and it's just a pity he just doesn't fit in here. I wish him all the best though.

Good player ruined by being stuck in the middle of our decline. Totally lost his confidence. A shame .
