At 8 million quid it's quite reasonable to think that 1% would be enough to support us in paying wages to a decent player.

Apparently yes, it might be nice if we had a similar deal where if he impresses for Newcastle then goes to one of the top 5 for say £50m?
East stand second class citizen.

So 5% would be 400k. Minus the sell on to the yellow scrotes

I've asked what the clause is and just been told "not great but ok"

Incidentally Clucas shares the same agent as Kristian Dennis, who we are currently talking to with a view to extending his contract that expires at the end of the season.

He also played last night for Hull against Bristol Rovers in Portugal so talk of a done deal appears premature

Bludddy hell. I wish Ashley would do everything I tell him.

So the agent has been putting it about that there is interest in Dennis so that Ashley will spend some of the Clucas money on him. Sneaky.

Sale or extended contract, the agent wins. It's a great way to earn a living isn't it?

'Ok'?

A player we sold could be now moving for several million and the sell on's just 'ok'?

Perhaps Ashley could clarify exactly what 'ok' actually means...

If and when a cash sum drops on the carpet I can't see any reason at all why it should be 'undisclosed' to supporters. It's not about pay. It's not about commission. It's a cash sum.

Considering which idiot handled the negotiations, I suppose we should be grateful if we get anything

Wasnt this a deal where we took a bigger up front fee and smaller sell on compared to deals like Darikwa etc where the fee was slightly smaller in favour of a bigger sell on. Its a bit of a lottery as to what players go on and do and what you make from sell ons.

Yes - we took £1.3M up front and I'm sure I recall Turner saying there was no sell on (or if there was it was minimal).

Should the same idiot be given any credit then for negotiating a fee reputed to be £1.3m for a player we purchased for less than £100k the previous year?

At the time, I thought that figure to be excellent business so even if we only have a 5% sell on it is not to be sneezed at.
