Who does he mean though, Maguire? The same Maguire who came in at the backend of last season and we looked FAR better?

If that's the rule, funny how many seem to break it. Criticise away. We deserve it.

Then he needs to tell us how Grimes or Palmer are better than Williams or Maguire ?

I’ve not heard the interview but he’s not necessarily saying a defender has to go out, is he?
I’d be inclined to think without moving Rowe and/or Asante on, no new personnel in now.

Yes, and even if he does want rid of Maguire, I really think he needs to swallow his pride (at least for the short term) and bring him into the team on Monday in the hope of seeing a similar improvement this year.

Last season prior to Maguire's return to the team (which did include sporadic appearances) we conceded 43 goals in 34 games, after his full return in March we conceded 9 in 12 games (which included the weird 3 against York). (not including the play-off games)

Why bring any ex Wigan, we can see why they got relegated AND time for LOZ.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again amongst the defenders in our current squad Maguire has been sadly overlooked. Maybe he isn’t the ultimate solution but he showed last year that he was key to shoring up our defensive weaknesses and was key to bringing us back from a poor run of form. Unfortunately he’s neither a drinking buddy nor a player from his previous clubs

If Asante had his long term injury problem resolved by a relatively minor operation several weeks ago, then he should be good to go (in both senses of the phrase) by now.

Maybe try a tactic of giving the ball to the striker

Or, strikers!!!
But, first of all, I believe he stated at the end of last season that we only needed a few incomings. I took this as meaning 3 or 4. Instead, I believe, he's made closer to 8 signings which includes a couple of keepers both of whom could be first choices elsewhere. But, no defenders.
He knew his budget. He should have known what we needed. He made the signings based on what he felt we needed. He has made signings that haven't even made the bench yet. Now, we need players out before any come in. What a surprise. But, not as big a surprise as him not bolstering the defence in the close season.

players he bought in Hobson Curtis a third choice keeper Chadwick who are doubtful to get starts not that they will be on massive wages but surely they need loaning out to get game time won't free up a big wage but some money to at least go towards a defender that can defend ?
