From next season all FA Cup Replays from 1st round on are to be scrapped. Currently no replays from the 5th round.
Positives and negatives in that.

More chance of winning through against higher league opposition, but less chance of two big pay days.

Basically all so the few clubs that get there can play in the extended UEFA competitions. No rounds played midweek as they do currently but the definition of "weekend" for when games can be scheduled is now Friday to Wednesday so even without a replay you could end up playing on a Tuesday or Wednesday night...presume that is all so more can be on telly. Final now played week before the final prem games of the season with no prem games played at all that weekend so focus can be on the final of the cup they've thoroughly devalued prior to that point.

To be honest, I wasn’t initially a fan of this, but thinking back to our match at Watford in January, having no worry out a replay may have changed the outcome of the match in our favour.

Would have been good to have had this for the West Brom tie last year

[color=#070707][font=Graphik, Arial, sans-serif][size=4]So the greatest football competition in the world, the FA Cup, continues to be degraded so a few mega rich teams can make more money from playing in Europe. I've a better idea. Why don't these mega rich teams go and play in a European Super League and leave the rest of us to enjoy our rich footaball heritage.

Why rounds 1 and 2? What L1 and L2 clubs enter the UEFA completions? They need to find another reason for that decision

So chuffed it looks like the Premiership has lost its extra european spot after last nights results

I’d love for them to join a european mega league permanently. The problem with that is they would probably want a guaranteed spot in the top domestic league to use as a feeder club

The FA Cup really isn't that great anymore. And I'm surprised the League Cup still exists.

Disgrace but then again I’m old fashioned and still think every cup is worth trying to win (ie FA Trophy)……

All clubs should follow suit and object.

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch said the decision to scrap replays from the first round is "frustrating and disappointing" and that the EFL will be "seeking appropriate compensation arrangements".

He added: "This represents another lost traditional revenue stream for EFL clubs at a time when the financial gap between the biggest clubs and those further down the pyramid is growing bigger than ever.

No replays or extra time there. Nor, come to think of it, in the EFL Cup.
It’ll all be settled by cash compensation I’m afraid.

So we have written off the FA Trophy, EFL Trophy and the FA Cup. What does that actually leave? Endless UEFA completions that soon every Premiership club can enter (even the relegated ones)

Yeah, Manure can post a £100K bond to secure a bye to the next round

Crawley and Grimsby have now released statements saying the same.

Wonder if there's grounds for a legal challenge to this if enough clubs get together on it?

I agree, the clubs are professional and should respect the paying fans and endeavour to win every game they play.

Every EFL club (obviously including us 😀 ) should do the same. Bout time clubs called out the Fa, Premier league fat cats, the fans have been doing it for ages. Greed has been ruining the game for…well…since the Premier league was formed. They counter it by saying look at the millions we give you….yeh…and where does that disappear to…back in the fa pockets ultimately. FIFA, UEFA, FA….all corrupt as ****, EFL management following closely. The NL are just too incompetent to know what’s going on.

Plenty of other clubs coming out with strong statements, lead by Tranmere and I presume Mark Palios again who is a proper football bloke seemingly.

I hope we are to follow, and I hope the club are willing to join other clubs taking a stand.

If you give the FA and PL an inch, they will soon take a mile.

As commentators have said, how come the Premier League clubs have persuaded the FA to scrap replays for rounds one and two when none of their clubs enter until the third?
