Lee "first round exit" Richardson continues his fine form.

Hartlepool, Tranmere and Sheffield utd were our cup draws last year, and Preston this year.. My my Mr Richardson, you are poor. Everyone knows that as well as walking on water, Knill would have atleast got us through those draws.. Dear me..

Rico can't MAKE the strikers/team score. They have to physically put the ball in the back of the net. Rico got the tactics spot on tonight and we outplayed Preston for a majority of the game. How you can blame Lee Richardson is honestly beyond me.

question ------ did you go ?? if you did how can you say that ?? you saw the effort and nothing wrong with the tactics either just a better equipped and more talented and higher division team won , no shame at all on richardson .

going to preston and getting a result was a massive task,we by all accounts aquited ourselves well, what do people want from us and do some people understand anything about football on this forum,i myself was very critical about richardson last season ,he made mistakes ,but he has changed things around, got rid of some players who didnt have their hearts in the club and looks to be developing a decent side without rushing into rash panic signings, the signing of page will be another masterstroke imo,you only have to look at his composure against barnet when he slid the ball in to the forwards to realise he has still got quality,so this season richardson has a clean slate and as a second season manager he should have learned by his mistakes,if we keep it tight at the back and continue to play football we will urine this league i am absolutely certain because it is rubbish

Perhaps we are saving up all our cup victories for one long glorious cup run, like in 1997. Oh happy days!

One thing though: would things have been different if we'd had an alternative option up front?

Chris, IMHO, no.
We battled and created numerous chances and our best option was on the floor, through the middle (which is why Currie had little impact when he came on, unless he came inside)
We didn't take our chances, thats what cost us, at one nil it could have gone either way and they then scored on 90 minutes as we were pushing for an equaliser.
No negatives from the game what so ever

3 goals from our front 2 on saturday would you have changed that,i very much doubt it....
I admit at the minute we haven't got anybody we can bring on but i am sure that will change soon, hopefully Jack and Wardy will stay fit and suspension free and will do the business.

"At the end of the day a cup run is good for the finances, but surely promotion is the main aim this season."
Lets dig out all last seasons quotes again !!
At least a loss to Preston is not as bad as last year's defeat to the scum.

A very disappointing comment TF.
Last night was my first game this season and I was very impressed with what I saw.
Poor finishing perhaps, but methinks there may be a few bets being placed in Preston today for a certain team in the second division!
Well done Rico and the lads........more please.
Rejoice

Poor finishing eh? That usually means Lester had an off day but it sounds like business as usual for Ward.
Good job we had all those options on the bench to change things...... OH wait.

so you'd rather a bench full of striking options TF?
Then Lee or Page gets injured??
Our bench last night had:
1 keeper
2 defenders (central or right sided)
1 defensive midfielder
1 creative midfielder
1 attacking midfielder
1 striker
I'd say that was full of options, wouldn't you?
