lets hope the lad is of the same standard as some of our leeds kids. if he is as good as macmaster was in his spell, then its a good signing.

Surprised,as I wasnt really expecting Rico to bring anybody in.But is a 21 yr old going to fit the bill in a midfield crying out for experience?

Who knows but at the end of the day, at least he's signed a midfielder which hopefully stops some on here moaning.
I wish him all the best.

Almost!
Only played 18 games in his career... and Soccerbase has him down as a forward!
I imagine Rico has contacts up at Aberdeen still, and if he's been watching for a while I'd guess that he was reccomended a while back to him...

The midfield experience can come from Niven ... and there's experience behind, with Gray ... and in front, with Lester and Fletcher ... if he's 21, plays well, that's perfect!

Crikey!!
Build around the experience of Niven! Then we are in trouble!
Should have been on his bike. His distribution is generally shocking but he will get his place on the strength of his tireless running.
Meanwhile Winter is not the experience a team bent on promotion needs and is more of a squad player. I expect an experienced midfielder to sign on Allotts wage. Our season is still hanging on the signing of a quality midfielder. Come on Rico we need this sorted before the season starts. If you think a loanee with the addition of Winter is the final piece in the jigsaw then, IMHO, we are way short.

Man Alive,
he hasn't even played once yet. Jamie O'Hara and Clingan were of the same age when they played for us and would they in your opinion not be good enough to take us out of League 2? If we had those 2 in centre mid in this league we would walk it.
To condemn someone as a squad player a few hours after he signs when no one knows what he is like is ridiculous.

Got to agree with you CS. We've been crying out for additions to the midfield for the last few weeks. We've signed a new midfielder and the general concensus doesn't seem too positive. I know we know very little about the player but agree we should give him a chance first.

Absolutely agree ... the lad's not kicked a ball and he's already been put down! Good grief ... some folks must know football incredibly well to be versed in all of Winter's qualities and make a fair analysis of his playing ability ... oh no wait, he hasn't kicked a ball for us yet, and we know little of him ... so let's say he's not good enough already!?!?!?!

Crooked Spireite has got it exactly right - O'Hara was only 19 as I remember when he came here and we'd be delighted to have him back now wouldnt we? lets just remember how good our last player who started off as a trainee at Leeds turned out to be...
(though hopefully Jamie wont take as long to come good)

And a warm welcome to Saltergate Jamie Winter. Good luck!

Give the lad a chance before we judge what he can and can't do.

I pity the poor ****** if he plays a part tomorrow and doesn't have a stormer. We could sign an international midfielder and he would be too small, too tall, too slow, too fast, too French, too attack minded, too defensive etc etc
To date two of our new players have been written off as useless without us seeing them and the other 3 are too old and only here for one last pay day.
What will be will be but we should at least let them step onto the pitch

I did hear a rumour that Steven Gerrard was meant to be on his way down here, until he found out the fans were moaning because he was a little too scouse
