To the good people of Chesterfield . At the moment iam working away in China . Iam trying to spread the word about our beloved club in the area that Iam in . I was wondering if there are fans out there who have old shirts stashed away , either that they have grown out of or discarded because new shirts have been brought out . I will be home at the end of August if anybody can help me on this please feel free to send me a pm .

There are quite a few clubs linking up with Chinese teams to promote themselves in this emerging market. Stockport I believe did something along these lines.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Through no fault of the very very hard working employees at GKN sheepbridge and through no fault of the Chinese workers GKN sheepbridge will close . One man took the decision 3 years ago to close the Sheepbridge site .............he has now left the company and moved on to another nice comfortable job ! His name is Mr Simon Meadows ...............if you have any anger about this direct it at him not at young Chinese people who do not have a football shirt to there name , let alone one sat in the back of a wardrobe because its not the latest one .

He was head of the group who took the decision to close the plant . If you have no choice to work for nothing what can you do?

So have you gone there from Stokes to help them set it up ?i know some of them have.

All them years of the threats of redundancy i think we all new it would come eventually,GKN are good at that, after all the process started in America just over 7/8 years ago.

Yes thats right SB . What we didnt know at the time of signing up that all the promises to keep Sheepbridge open were empty ones . Its not just football shirts that have a huge mark up SB , all clothing and electrical goods from Asia have a huge profit margin .................does that stop people going out and buying the cheaper options ? I didnt want a political debate , all I wanted was a few cast of shirts .

There was a program on tv last night about "cheap shopping" and the majority of these Chineese sweat shops are basically either making a loss or just breaking even just to get the work away from the west. Apparantly the bubble is about to burst.

Though when I worked at Northern Rubber there was simply no way to compete with them....

Thw whole thing's just corrupt ... minority living off the back of everyone else's hard work and labour. You're right ... the bubble will burst ... it's got to, it's impossible to sustain.

Not impossible, damn hard, the buyers have to realise that the cheapest option is not always the best solution. If that was the case we would all be driving around in Hyundai Getz's
