David Miliband, like Sadiq Khan, like Andy Burnham, like so many other senior Labour figures is maintaining a public image whilst allowing Corbyn enough rope to hang himself. Unfortunately he and his supporters blame everything and everybody but themselves. Infact I cringed as I watched Ken Livingstone first call for unity then, in virtually the same breath, launch a sneering attack on 'Blairites' and 'the rubbish Blair served up'.
What, y'mean like rescuing the NHS? Rebuilding infrastructure? Delivering the minimum wage? Family tax credits? A booming economy?
And therein lies the problem.
Corbyn and his followers only see things in black and white, right and wrong, us and them. They'd rather raise their fists, sing the Red Flag and masturbate their socialist credentials than compromise to win power. Well great, terrific, what a wonderfully principled bunch they are. But unless you're in power those principles are just a pious wish list.
PS: a Labour smear campaign won them Stoke Central? So was Nuttall a local or not? Did he or his representatives post lies on his website or not? Did he hide himself away rather than campaign or not? Oh, and by the way, doesn't most of the British press conduct a daily smear campaign against Labour?
