Don't know what all this stupity is at the roundabout near Donkey Derby. Rumours were that it was to do with the phone mast. Surely not. Complete chaos, long delays -

Don't know what all this mess is near the Donkey D roundabout. Rumour that it's all to do with a phone mast. Ludicrous delays; buses an hour late; a mess both ways right up to Whitt Moor.
I take it the authorities will have factored in over 9000 people might be trying to get to the stadium on Sat. It seems to me, Derbyshire CC create more problems than they're in Chesterfield with all the silly roundabout nonsense.
Thoughts?

It will get messy on matchday if the temporary lights are still there

Just been stuck in it. Never in my sixty odd years of living in town have I seen so many roadworks as this year. There seems to be 3 or 4 every day. Much of the time there are just cones and the inevitable temporary traffic lights with no holes in the road and no one working. Saltergte, Ashgate Rd and the Morrison's roundabout at Brampton are also all currently affected. And in recent months Chatsworth Rd, Newbold Rd, Inner Relief Rd, Brimington, Greenways at Walton are just some that have been affected that I am aware of. A couple of weeks ago they had temporary lights and one carriagway closed on Loundsley Green Rd for a few days for no apparent reason whatsoever - no holes in the road and no one working. I understand Staveley is also currently gridlocked owing to roadworks.
It really is crazy. I reckon the authorities are doing it on purpose to put people off driving cars and get them onto their beloved bikes.

Even if I was able to ride a bike I wouldn't due to all the potholes, and poor repairs when they've had the road up.

4 way traffic lites on the roundabout at the bottom of grassmoor, despite no works actually happening in the roundabout, the hole (at least they have dug one) is 50-100yrds further along the road towards churchside..

Most of them been related to Gigaclear digging things up to install fibre broadband especially Brampton, Walton, somersall way along with some other areas. Throw in the resurfacing works on chatsworth road then the new bike lane it’s been bedlam around there. We’re top side of Brampton at Brookside and recently google maps told me it was quicker to go up the hill to wadshelf and down through old Brampton to take my car for a service at the garage at littlemoor one work day morning than it was to go down to storrs road and loundsley green way due to roadworks on chatsworth road and storrs road.

Got signs up saying 30 weeks of roadworks for the bike lane along chatsworth road.

Chatsworth Rd is already narrow enough without putting in a bike lane, it's a nightmare at times trying to drive a large vehicle down there...

I think these are currently for the cabling work. However, yes, Chatsworth Road is going to be affected for 30 weeks for the installation of a cycle lane. Seemingly ends at Holymoor Road, roughly, so not sure what happens after there.
Meanwhile, only chaos can ensue

It's all the fault of Health and Safety lot. I believe if anyone is working within 3 metres of a live carriageway they HAVE to have traffic lights by law. So someone can be working on a grass verge yet there has to be lights. They need to take notice of our friends on the continent. They don't mess around.

The roadworks which were there for about 16 weeks outside the Arkwright Arms made me want to end my life

Yeah but they have had to upgrade all the roads to accept modern vehicles as opposed to horse and cart.
