I don't much bother with Jim White on Talksport nowadays as it is a bit of a bum-licking fest but they have Simon Jordan on today, and he's not afraid to say what he thinks of others. Apparently he's looking for a club to take over....?

Anyhow, I had read about Moyes' comments towards a female reporter, and the wireless played the tape of them this morning. Storm in a teacup. Moyes was just a bit exasperated but spoke jokingly enough. The whole thing sounds a lot less harmless than the written reports are making out. He said it, he apologised to the reporter, she apparently accepted it, so that's that. Unless the media get their teeth in and the FA see it as an opportunity to use it for political reasons.

Saw it once and it was clearly said in a joking manner and accepted as such by the reporter. Unfortunately the people wanting to make capital out of it reflects the ridiculous state this country as got into over alleged P.C.

Ok in the age of equal ops and feminism it's surely ok to want to slap a woman as much as a man?
Isn't this what Germaine Greer wanted?
Or is it not acceptable to want to slap anyone nowadays?
The PC brigade have ruined slapping for all of us.

Clearly said in jest and nothing like the supposed "threat". Media claptrap.

I saw the headline and thought, christ, he's in for it and then when I saw the clip I couldn't believe it, just a joke and taken to the extreme. You can have mad rsed clerics preaching god knows what on the streets but heaven forbid anyone makes a joke that's not PC. The country is going mad

Usually when folk complain about "PC zealots" it's because they've said something sh1tty and had to face a backlash. But in this rare instance, it's a valid gripe. Human makes joke to other human. Humans in no way affected get on their high horses. What a non-story.

Indeed

I wonder how many supporters are having their own "losing my religion" experience?

Why didn't he joke when he thought he was being recorded? He answered the question straight without exasperation when he knew he was on camera. Once he thought he was off record he decided to try to intimidate the reporter. It is the timing of the threat that's the issue. He should tell his "jokes" publically. No need to sack him as he's been embarrassed enough but don't blame "PC" people for him being a bully.

OK...I'm going to be rather controversial now....
A. I'm a girl...
B. I slightly know Mr Moyes...he lived up the road when I lived in Preston and he's actually quite an OK chap
C. Us girls can ask some quite cheeky questions and on more than one occasion in my life...I'm very surprised I have not received a slap or two!!!
D. I'm not part of the PC brigade... life is too short.... :-)

One simple question: would Moyes have said the same thing to an experienced journalist?

I'd guess the answer's a resounding 'no'.

Are you actually claiming that it was bullying?

He didn't joke when he was being recorded because a world over burdened with PC loons like you can think telling a joke that involves saying 'give you a slap' equates to bullying or a threat! And that a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth gets it's shoes on.

Retreat to your 'safe space' post haste.

Yes I do in that he was trying to set the tone for future interviews and questions. Lots of managers try to intimidate journalists. Some are much better at it than Moyes. He's just been caught out but it's not a hanging offence. I doubt that the BBC will use her again for Sunderland matches though.
