Breaking news that Swiss prosecutors have launched criminal proceedings over the allocation of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Could we yet host the 2018 finals....also the head of the South African FA confirms a £10 million payment was made to FIFA after the award of the 2010 competition...it's all getting very messy for Mr Blatter now, this really could be the beginning of the end for him.

I think England could host a World Cup at short notice better than almost any country, but I'd be surprised if I see one here in my lifetime
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

there was an interview on the radio with someone from the mail or telegraph who had been investigating fifa for a couple of yrs. gist of it is if the fbi can prove fifa officials took bribes they can class fifa as a criminal organisation (similar to the mafia) & anyone who sponsers fifa can then be charged with aiding a criminal organisation.
also I didn't realise fifa is a registered charity & therefore exempt from paying taxes (nice for sepp on his £10m a yr).

don't think sepp will be sending any fifa xmas cards this year.

Seem to remember Blatter saying something like "England could host a World Cup tomorrow", hence why they chose Qatar. I agree with the FA, that its a waste of time bidding for any future World Cups, while he's in charge.

He certainly won't last the term as FIFA president.

It'll be the same as Jack Warner and a couple of other FIFA execs, when the Brown stuff hits the fan the old "age and frailty" card will come into play.

Trouble is that real football is still affected by this Qatar decision. No real footy over the Christmas period.

No backhanders for us staging a World Cup.
In my opinion we ought to pull out of the World Cup and stage an alternate tournament that summer with any other countries brave enough to make a stand.

There's always the chance that Platini will try to create a powerbase with UEFA and break away from FIFA. This will leave such a gap in the world football fixture list that FIFA will eventually crumble leaving Platini to pick up the pieces. Incidentally , Pele is backing Blatter!!

Don't worry about that! America don't mess around if he's guilty which I'm sure he is he will go down for a long time regardless of age health etc

Indeed. They will offer immunity to USA citizen accused to turn prosecution witness. He will get two years suspended sentence, and the foreign defendants will get 30 years. Financial cases over there are littered with stories like this.
