Battiston was clearly through and Schumaker should have been given a straight red.....

I thought it wasn't a penalty originally, but when I saw the replay ha e a look at schweinsteigers shifty eyes, he knew what he was doing. Correct decision I think

Too many negatives have confused me. Do you think it was or wasn't a penalty?

And for me he should have conceded a penalty in the first half. He knew exactly what he was doing when he leaned in/ pretended to fall, so his body shoved the German player off the ball when he'd set himself up nicely for a header at goal. Pogba had no chance of winning that one so fell all over him. I hate that in football (along with the grabbing and throwing yourself to the ground) and needs stamping hard down on asap. Basically it's cheating.

You can stomach a bit of cheating when it really maters, if it goes your way.
I seem to remember us being away at Mansfiekd one year, it might have been one of the old Boxing Day fixtures we used to have. Malcolm Darling went down, in front of the Niorth Stand , with the Stags fans in, let's say a little bit easy. The "foul" looked well outside the box even from our end but we got a penalty. Up stepped Terry Shanahan to score off the post. It was a long time ago and that may not be entirely accurate but I remember celebrating and not being too concerned it wasn't a pen.

Arm in a natural position going for a header at that angle - very unfortunate

The standard of refereeing throughout has been superb. The refs seem to be street wise on the very things fans have been criticising them for for decades. I haven't seen a single instance of poor player behaviour being tolerated either.
That's bound to jinx the final.

If that's a natural position for his arm to be in he's going to give away a lot of penalties
