Thought Alan Stephenson remit was to pull in punters etc. Seems VERY UNREASONABLE that Gary is being shown the door - surely his position is to ensure that the experience on the day is a good one and generates profit.

I am aware Alan is no longer at cfc but in my opinion Gary is copping what was being levelled at Alans door. But again I'm posting blind to what goes on in the inner sanctum.

Perhaps Ashley will come out and tell us. I understand we are part of his bed time reading. Was Gary appointed by our President without DA knowing?.
Who will be next, Jim Brown or the President?.

Christ if we are getting rid of a bloke who everybody believes is doing a fantastic job how is the academy manager still in a job he cannot even send an email.

Now that's rather amusing, someone asked the same question yesterday!

Jim Brown is Mr.Chesterfield and never forget that his and his colleagues of the day, helped us to rid the club of that thieving bstd Darren Brown.

Gary is a mate of mine.

He and his entire family are Town through and through and I doubt there's anyone who's put more hours in at the stadium.

I've not spoken to him regarding the issue and I'm not fully aware of all the facts.

However my understanding is 'The Powers That Be' are saying he should be doing more to attract business - which I would've thought is a job for the new commercial manager recruited this summer - and are seeking to add his name to those who've left Town at considerable cost over the last couple of years.

Richard Walters, Dave Bentley, Mark Jules, etc, etc, etc.

Is this legitimate or is it merely an excuse to add a(nother?) crony to the Proact payroll?

I have my own opinion, but I'm damn certain Gaz Cook wasn't responsible for a million pound-plus loss in a year that saw us at Wembley, title winners, and stage high profile acts.

Or allowing a 'fake Sheikh' inordinate licence at the Club, either.

...and you still maintain your mate Dave is oblivious to all this intrigue?. He said at the AGM that he is now 'hands on' as his son has taken over the reins of the rest of his empire.

With only four home games left, and of those four only one (Bristol City) seems to have the potential for a large crowd, I thought I would revive this and see where we stand.

Average for this season so far 6,834. (19 games)
Average for Saturday games only 7,161. (13 games)
Average for mid-week games only 6,125. (6 games)

Where we are compared with the final average for seasons past:-

1.98% down on season one
4.68% up on season two
25.84% up on season three
8.17% up on season four

Still can't seem to beat the first season at our new ground.

So are we happy, sad or is it about what you expected, and more importantly will "the powers that be" think it is enough and be pleased with this figure or plan player cuts?

Do you think the remaining games will raise the final figure above the magical 7000? They include two Saturday games; a Bank Holiday Monday and a Tuesday night game, luckily the Bristol City match is on a Saturday.
Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.

We were on 7k so last nights attendance has given the figures a big knock. I was shocked that we got under 5k. Even allowing for the night game, the Coventry defeat and fall down the table must have really hit home

Whilst the crowd was low and has impacted the average attendance figures let us not forget that if a season ticket holder ( like myself ) is unable to attend the game due to work commitments ( which is unavoidable ) the club don't lose revenue for this. They have my money whether I am there or not.

If I was putting a financial statement together with a breakeven figure for the club it would be based not on the attendance but on the number of tickets sold to non season ticket holders that game.

I always felt that barring us being in a play off or auto promotion spot all season we were never going to hit 7k for the season and I think the fans have supported the club above and beyond the call of duty this season home and away.

Educated guesswork...

Walsall 6,600
Crewe 7,100
Colchester 5,000
Bristol 9,200

End of season avg - 6858 (23 games). Just miss the 7000.

Strange there's no rules or consistency in football about this.
Arsenal are one who always count ST

Last nights attendance was pathetic, I have every respect for anyone who couldn't make it for one reason or another. However there must have been a great number who decided that they couldn't be bothered because they are fed up with some poor performances / Doyle leaving.Confidence amongst some fans must have been hit when it was announced that Lavery had gone back.(who would score the goals).I'm really glad that the Team had the balls to come back so well last against an in form Gills side, we totally outclassed them with some superb football and finishing. Posh.has been a good ground for the Town to visit over the years, come on you Spireites get there in big numbers and bring home the 3pts. 51pts already and could have been at least 60, who'd have thought it at this stage of the season,. We still have a good chance of the playoffs but the players need your support.

Without looking, is the Crewe game the bank holiday game? I think they will bring a few especially if they need the points for safety. 8,000 for that 1 if it is bank holiday Monday. Especially if were still within a shout of promotion
Here we go again!

If your forecast is right, I hope the Club can offer a deal for the families, best to have bums on seats than empty spaces.

I'm no financial expert and I've never professed to be one but in my humble opinion, an average gate of 7,000 over a season isn't enough to keep the club on an even keel nevermind in profit. Whoever came up with that figure of 7,000 surely didn't assume that's what we need to keep our head above water?

We are losing money (sorry the club is losing money) hand over fist with an average gate of say 6,800. Would an extra 200 generate the funds required? I'm not convinced. Maybe an average gate of 9,000 may just cut it.
