Limmy? Anyone?

A bit hit and miss, but I guess that's the case with most sketch shows. When it's funny it's very funny. The sketch where he's dancing to Bruce Springsteen's 'Dancing in the Dark' is phenomenal for a reason that I am completely unable to fathom.

Fair do's. It's just so simple and dumb in my opinion, I feel like there's literally no content or actual comedy to it, to the point where it genuinely enrages me how it's so popular lol. I see what you mean about Game of Thrones and I held it off for so long for that exact reason; but it's definitely worth at least a season's try. It's not just the fat, spotty, nerd haven you might think it is (even though I do probably add to that demographic).

It may have as much to do with my sense of humour, I grew up laughing at what my dad laughed at, it's not a complicated sense of humour, yes trumps are funny, yes people falling over is funny. I don't want to have to think about it then laugh or laugh and have to think why I'm laughing. It's just a reaction for me.
I can appreciate clever ideas, writing and characters, but at the end of the it's either funny to the individual or it isn't. I never really got mighty boosh, I'm sure a lot of effort went into it, but it was never as funny as my dad sneezing his false teeth out.

I assumed it was a 'massive racist' reference?

or maybe a follically challenged one?

Sadly Sammy if they are the 2 alternatives ...I am still " in the running " for one of the alternatives I hasten to add

By the way comedy that make(s) me laugh

Likely Lads
Family Guy
Allo Allo
Til Death us do part
Phoenix Nights
Monty Pythons Flying Circus
Police Squad

BUT IMHO they do all languish a good way behind the thread's main 2

Sorry about that, mate...it's nonsensical that it tickles me as much as it does - can fully understand that the vast majority of people will not find it amusing in the least!

Watch him on dvd regularly and sometimes audio radio shows in the car. Also delighted to pick up script bòok at a car boot. People say it was the writing but I think he was the king of timing. Fractured genius.

Also love Spike. Stood on the steps leading down to Oxford circus tube in a pith helmet going in search of "the lost tribe of the cockernees".

Milligan was a genius, I loved the goon shows and used to listen to one every Sunday lunchtime with my dad, still got them all on vinyl so need to get myself a record player really

Just recently watched every series of the peep show.
I have to say, very very good, for me up there for sure.
And an honourable mention to The flight of the Conchords from a New Zealand duo.
Very funny, worth a look if you ever get the chance.

Peep Show is funnier than every show mentioned in this thread so far and the new series just gets better.

Now you're talking! Peep Show is quality, Friday Night Dinner is decent and totally made by Jim (Heellloooo Jackkieeeee) and though I've only seen the first series Man Down is good too. Rik Mayall was an absolute shining light.
