The ref didn't abandon the match. He finished it. Sometimes you see EPL/UCL games finished with 1-10 seconds left of the [minimum] added time added.

Not well over a minute though

One last attempt. How many of these EPL/UCL games you claim finished with 1-10 seconds left was due to an outside influence and not the refs/players boredom. It was an outside influence, hence abandoned.

And to reiterate my main point, once again, this outside influence interfering with the opportunity of the officals to discuss and then disallow a crucial goal?
From just monitoring this boards general thoughts the goal was undisputedley offside.

And as for not realising the possibility (our friend Spireitetoo) of losing the replay please refer to my comments (post 70) re losing to a last minute penalty and having the game replayed being in the interests of football. Cheers

That was your last attempt? Well, you could have linked to a report that substantiates your claim that the match was abandoned, and not just finished too early.

I have never questioned your understanding that we might have lost a replayed match. So why have you mentioned that?

I respect your view that it should be replayed, in the interests of football. However, it simply can't be as the match wasn't abandoned. I'm 99.9% sure that the referee reported the match as having been finished, not abandoned. Finished early, yes, but not abandoned. They're subtly different ways of a match ending, and the former allowed the referee to avoid having to submit a lengthy post match report.

The game finished because the clock was still ticking and went well beyond the less than a minute remaining.

If the pitch invasion had not happened it is quite plausible that the officials would have discussed the “equaliser” and it would have probably been disallowed. The ref concentrated on player safety, a more experienced official may have covered all issues but I doubt it.
The game was a draw, live with it and move on.

Not sure I follow your first paragraph but the 2nd is an excellent summation and is where I am at. We've become experienced at "living with it" and moving on over the years, what's 2 points matter anyway, it's nothing compared to loosing out in a play off final due to an inexperienced ref running about like a rabbit in the headlights for the first 10 minutes of the game

Spot on. This was an instance where the ref didn't add on time during the time added on. You often see teams "manage" games out and an extra minute or two gets added on to the time added on.

Yep, Buxton win the rearranged game 3-0... wonder if the fact that the scunny players hadn't been paid and the recent turmoil had any bearing on their performance

Justice served, just feel for the fans who had to fork out for 2 visits for 3 points that may well be expunged within the next month or so anyway

Am I right to understand that the players wages are being crowd funded?

i read it as non playing staff wages. £40k a month needed & theyve raised more than that.

Brilliant result for the Bucks who deserved to win the match after the unfortunate abandonment which was riddiculous giveb that at the most there were only 5mins left to play.
