I know Sterling had a hand in that third goal and he needs a confidence goal but - especially in this heat - is pull him and Kane off soonish. It’s all about saving legs and preserving energy levels now. Just one more goal would give us the leadership of the group going into the Belgium game, which’d be nice. That would come from the fresh subs with summat to prove.

Good move but wot? No Rashford? Ha ha ha - there’s 6. In quality style! Time for the slippers and smoking jacket.

Sterling missed a sitter prior to one of our goals.

We should be trying to score.Second half we've only got a fluke goal . Great result but defensive blunders should be taken seriously!

Tbh it don’t surprise me in the least. Though he seems to handle the press coverage well (and he is picked on unfairly), it just affect him. I missed it this time, his miss, cos the 4-year old was still up up to H-T though I’d handed out specific instructions that that would be out of order

Southgate has created a good atmosphere in the camp and his tactics se to be fine but I’d criticise his subs - why did he keep Alli on so long the other night? Why didn’t he give Rashford a needed run out tonight? I know he played him the other game but he’s a confidence player and a goal would duel one of our brightest hopes. Trippier needed subbing, fair enough, but this could also have been a time to take Henderson off and see what the other options could do.

Why not think of a more entertaining method? How about a toss in the centre circle? Whomever comes first... :ninja:

😉 BTW, I completely agree with you ref Kane's header. Forgot to comment on that after being bogged down in our nationality discussion.

Personally, I'd let Belgium win the group for a far easier passage.

I know he’s had little service but Vardy’s done nowt to claim a place next match. Perhaps he’d be a better option vs a team with fewer defenders left back.

At least this Panama coach is a fun, smiley bloke. His expression belies his teams filthy tactics first-half anyways.

Just heard that it might come down to cordiality (I.e. cards/discipline) who wins the group. Let’s show the Belgies the undying tradition of exquisite British service (Kane looks ideal for this role) by playing in tuxedos and wheeling on cucumber sandwiches for all and sundry pre-match and at half-time, washed down with a complimentary pint at full-time

Am I wrong to suggest we created more chances against Tunisia, and conceded less chances?

Don’t know the stats but you could well be right. Today’s performance was nowhere near what is required later on, but you might blame the heat, the opposition, the circumstances. Whatever, as far as England is concerned, for me, this is the best WC since 2002 already.

Points, goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head, fair play..........

So a draw isn’t going to change the table, England shown as top. Thankfully alphabetical order isn’t a consideration

Are we all pretending we don’t rate England’s chances while secretly expecting them to get to the semis (at least)
