Thought in his interview in front of the town hall that he said he had an option for another year but its in discussion.
Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves for a longer deal depending on what we offer him

With his injury record before coming to us, he probably appreciated the managed workload through the squad rotation policy. If he goes to a team that needs to get 40 odd games out of him, he might prefer to stay with us if his workload will be similar next season.

King has been good for us at times, but I think this is the right decision. Defensively we need better in his position. He’ll pick up a NL club no problem, wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Oldham

I would be happy to see him back but don't see him as a massive game changer at this stage of his career and arguably wouldn't be a guaranteed starter. He may not have played a significant number of games but he's seemingly been involved most games this year in the Championship, even if for a side out of their depth. He's very much a Cook sort of player clearly so if a deal can be done it could make sense for all parties.

A deal could well be done, but would it be another Naylor/Grigg type 3 year deal just so that we could make the finances work? On balance, I'd love to have him in the squad but not at the expense of blowing the budget.
