Given we haven't signed anyone the Hunt's are better than no one but they don't strike me as the sort of investments we should me making.

I'd be targetting young, hungry players at smaller clubs who we can offer fees for and then develop, ie Clucas.

Are Cairns, Donahue and Orell youngsters?

I've had enough of developing younger players and selling them. These guys are internationals and know the game. We may have a blend of youth and experience as they say! Interesting times ahead!

Will be a shocker if we are bringing in fading 30+ year olds to replace good young players. Its completely against the club's policy. Wtf is going on? Hope it's just a bad dream.

Let's enjoy the ride! mmmmmm...

How many of them are actually good enough for the first team like Darikwa, Clucas, Morsy, Cooper, Doyle were? It's ok having young hungry players but they have to be good too and I wouldn't have Banks, Gardener, Onovwigun, Aryibi in that class..

I'm not saying he's a good signing just that I don't think he had a career that was based purely on hussle. It's all about opinions.

If Morsy leaves, and the kind of players being touted on here come in, we will be struggling to have more than one or two players under 28 on the pitch come kick off a week on Saturday. There wont be any that need guiding. Until the subs come on, by which time the over 33s will as likely be off it.

Stephen Hunt is 3 years older than Roberts. Replacing very experienced with very, very experienced!
Noel Hunt is only 32.

I haven't said these players are what we should be going for, but we should be going for experience to replace the experience we've lost.

It isn't going against club philosophy, we've just signed 3 from non league

Donahue looks like he could develop into something a bit special - reminds me very much of Clucas - early days yet but very promising.

None of the players linked so far would excite me in the slightest

The latter two may prove to be good players but they are unlikely to be able to make an impact in League One now.

Agree. We have lost/look like losing Clucas, who was 23 last August, Ryan 25 then, Morsy 22 and Darikwa 22. Plus Roberts -30 last year. The 21 age to 25 age bracket would seem the ideal profile for development and impact on our upcoming season.

I wonder if the OS article from Wednesday was a misprint, and should have read, "Turner: Targets will exit supporters"
Simple enough mistake to make.

I can't be sure whether you're taking the mick or you've a love of hard drugs that impairs your thoughts.

There's absolutely no chance barring us signing four or five top notch players to replace those we've lost.

I'll be absolutely delighted to finish 20th and Saunders might yet need credit for getting us as high as that.

Give up, the hardest drugs this berk's taken is Lemsip!

Before we continue I reckon we'll finish between 10th and 15th

If we had to line up right now, i'd assuming that the side would look like-

Lee

Hird, Raglan, Evo, Jones

O'Shea, Banks, Morsy, Gboly

SEB, Gnando.

29, 28, 22, 34, 29, 27, 22, 23, 20, 29, 23.

Am I right in thinking that leaves our starting 11 with an average age of 26? Which is pretty healthy. The issue isn't youth or experience, its quality. We clearly have a good mix, so whether they're 18 or 35, if they can do a better job than what we have, get them in.

Would think Talbot would be at right back and Hird central. Then its looking increasingly like Morsy will be gone, and that Banks, Gboly and Gnando will lose their place to the new incomings.

Also I think we have established its not only quality we want, but, apparently, players we can sell and make a profit on so the club can subsist.

I meant if we had to go RIGHT NOW.

Who knows what we'll get out of Drew this season, hoping it's a lot, but who knows.

I know what you mean, but arguably we don't have to search for potential profits at the moment. Even with Morsy gone, we've got Raglan and Gboly that have the potential to grab their chance and improve significantly.
