One slip up aside for Gregor towards the end...he had a terrific game and some of his passes through were both well weighted and timed. As for Lester...he worked very hard AGAIN for the team and made his own goal through his natural intelligence and reading of the game.
We're priviledged to have them both at the club. 2 of towns best players yesterday alongside Talbot, McDermott and Perkins.

It has just dawned on me it may be Mcdermots last game for us (i think) i hope we give the lad the applause he deserves as he has been outstanding for us. Yesterday when he brought the ball down in the middle of the park, flicked it through his legs and took the ball straight between the two Burton center half's was fantastic to watch, a true talent in the making.
I would love to think he will become a spireite, alas i feel his ambitions may be far ahead of what we can offer him but we can only hope, it looks like he loves playing for us so who knows ?

I'd go so far as to say he is one of our indespensibles. He provides defensive height - yesterday, Brecks was the shortest of our back four - , and energy and balance out on the left. We have no one in the squad who can replace him.

Jack like everyone else up front had all the time in the world - Easiest game he's had all season.

I don't want to "rubbish" any Chesterfield player but I'm yet to be won round by Gregor even though he has my total support when he plays. Saturday was a classic "good" game for him. No attacker up against him, loads of time on the ball and acres of space for him to ping balls into. I'm very pleased that he is receiving less ridicule but let's not go over the top with comments like Dim View's. Over the last 15 months, including the Rotherham and Bradford City games, he has struggled to defend against wingers of any ability; that's why people criticise him. For what's it's worth I thought that Picken had a very good game at Hereford and I'm not sure that he would have been left out if last Saturday's game had been away. As you rightly say though the left back's slot is Gregor's to lose. Let's hope he keeps it.

Did you happen to go to Bury last season. Typical Gregor performance awsome.
Seriously mate i would say that Gregor is one of our most effective player - hardly puts a pass wrong, difficult to get past on his side, links up well going forward, good free kick and corner kick man. Very quick feet. I think I've been very fair and realistic - anyone disagree.

Gregor is one of those players that is solid, does his job and thats it. Occasionally he will have a game where he stands out but most of the time he will get on, do his job and that is all we can ask of him. He got a lot of stick, some unfairly, and like Page a lot of supporters will not move on and see that he is now a big part of the side and i suspect one of the first players that Sheridan has down on the team sheet.
He has a decent left foot, a good engine and gets forward well. Yes he isnt a Roberto Carlos etc but like most of our players if they were the complete player they wouldnt be in league two with us!!
Unfortunately that isnt enough for some who will happily jump on him for an error but slow to say anything when he does something right.

I did go to Bury last season and admit I got the hump with Gregor but then again he was sent off a few minutes before half time when he put in a useless tackle. As you say typical....You are trying to wind me up, right? Did you go? Great win in the circumstances. I understand people sticking up for him but the idea that he is one of our most effective players is pushing it.

Best LB since Shinner.
It's good to see him play down the stand side, pinging balls into danger areas and great off the ball movement.

Maybe the truth lays somewhere between the two, here.
There's no doubt that GR has undergone a vast improvement over recent months, even if it was from a pretty low point to begin with. He's now exhibiting a new found confidence, linking up well with other players when going forward, and is obviously preferred to Kev Austin at left back for his pace and athleticism.
But on the other hand i can understand why folk are still hestitant due to his failings as a defender. He does sometimes get caught out, not quite knowing whether to 'stick or twist', and does seem to struggle against the better players. I'm told that he was well and truly taken to the cleaners by Nicky Law (Jnr) at Don Valley.
So, would it be fair to say the same thing of Gregor that was said of the young Ashley Cole: good in advanced positions, but needs to improve his basic defending?

Disagree. A change in Manager has given all the experts that slated Robbo last term an opportunity to turn their coat.

I've always liked the lad and seen the potential! Though many haven't and are far to quick to judge?? Perhaps it's these fans that should question themselves and not certain players of ours??
One of the first names on the team sheet for me!

Very unfair Chris to high light a game you didn't see - ok he was under pressure but the Millers did target his position with 2 and 3 players - the remaining question should be why was he left exposed.
If we judged every player on one performance, what does that say about the jury. It's as a lot keep saying on here, some people seem blind to what is in front of them and lets not foget everyone Gregor is a spireite, he doesn't come to work with the intention of not doing his best. Thats all we can ask of him, his endeavour is beyond reproach for me.
