In terms of 3 year deal, I'm with you - I would rather it had been for 2 years.
But, it may well have been this contract length that was required to get him to sign and, based on his performance last season, so far I'd say he's been worth it.
His stats for last season speak for themselves (according to fbrev.com):
Remarkably, despite the fact his legs have gone (according to you) he made 32 starts; the 5th highest in the squad and I suspect he would have started more if not for the injury. Despite being slower than you over x yards (I forget the number) he was still able to score 25 tap-ins including 3 out of 3 tap-in penalties. It's not a bad return is it for some knackered old striker with no pace?

Like many, I don't get your constant downer on him.
Having highlighted his shortfalls, and found some new ones, you would get much more credibility if you just stated he performed better than you expected and actually praised him for what he adds as opposed to searching for an alternate reason to criticise him... or just let it go and say nothing.
As for how he fares against L2 players, well that goes for everyone else too doesn't it?
How will Coco and Dobra fare against against better defenders, Grimes against a better aerial threat with more pace, our goalkeeper against more clinical strikers etc?
I suspect Grigg won't get 25 goals next season, but while ever he's fit, he'll still score and his intelligent movement will create space for the other attacking players to exploit.

Just goes to show how easy it is to be guided by fact rather than prejudice,to add to a debate rather than just denigrate others opinions, all without hurling personal abuse at fellow Spireites.
More of this I say! :)

I have, posted a lot about them when we?re last in the leagues. All very vague.
Another way of looking at it- just how many clubs have been penalised for breaking SCMP rules? I can find very little on the subject, and in any event the only penalty appears to be restricting new registrations.

This site was useful when I was researching it before. Not sure if it?s bang up to date though.

Anyone else wondering why the pitch is being rolled behind Akinola in his interview, thought it was being ripped up again?

ready for the Walking Football World Cup this weekend isn't it?

Assume it'll be ripped up after that and any 'play on the pitch' games scheduled

Cookie built a team that rinsed the league last year, he's bringing players in that fit his system. 90% of us were gutted Akinola didn't sign after his arsenal release...

We need young players as well as "oldies", he's brought in 2 x 23 year olds and a 34 year old.

Imagine Akinola after a few weeks of training with Naylor, jacobs etc. He'll improve on what is already a good base.

Kane is a "Berry" type signing worth the risk and could turn out great.

With regards to Grigg ; can't believe we are even having this convo, he'll score plenty. I was nervous first few games but once the team clicked we romped teams, remember Jack Lester was given a 3 year deal at 31.

Thought the pitch was just being reseeded and not ripped up?

Not sure to be honest.

There is piles of grass/turf by the South west corner of the ground this morning, so assume some areas have been lifted already? Unless that?s ready to go down once it?s ripped up?

Perhaps that's from around the pitch where the new astro turf is being installed.

I?m sure they said on one of the podcasts that they weren?t doing a full replacement this season, just some patching up of certain areas
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

A good ?over seeding? should do the trick on most of the pitch, but some areas looked threadbare late on in season. Always thought there?s not enough ?grass sward? on it after first few months of the season.
