Some good points but the class war rhetoric closes too many doors for me.

I have no envy of the rich and privileged. I don't see them as the enemy. The real enemy can be ideologies from all social classes and political parties. I don't discriminate.

Many working class voters didn't overthrow the establishment. My point was, they overthrew their ideas.

I won't be joining in the establishment attack on Farage. He achieved the impossible. He, almost single handily, took on the entire European establishment and won. Where else could he do that but from Brussels? He said he did so, not for aggrandisement but to get his country back. It would be churlish not to recognise his achievement.

He was metal trader not a stockbroker. There's nothing pejorative about these occupations and I don't agree with
your implicit comment, that being wealthy and privileged disqualifies one from being moral, philanthropic or patriotic. Wealth is sometimes necessary for these things but not sufficient. Some of the most ruthless dictators were born in poverty.

On LBC this morning, an RMT spokesman quoted his rule book stating their priority is to overthrow the government and install a socialist one. Not helpful. I support the freedom of the right to withdraw one's labour
but should like to see legislation that guarantees that, albeit with 'responsibility' clauses.

Happy new year Chris.

The establishment or their ideas haven't been overthrown at all, either here or in the USA. To think that Farage & Trump aren't part of the establishment elite is frankly ridiculous. An ex stockbroker & a billionaire are not going to create a more equal society or defend the working classes. They are exploiters extraordinaire. And while it is no bad thing to be free of that neoliberal bastion, the EU, it is a tragedy that the people in charge of Brexit happen to be toxic right wing nut jobs who serve their class with utter devotion.
Oh & by the way those who believe the class war is ongoing are not envious of the rich. That my friend is just sh/te spouted by apologists for the status quo.

As a former labour voter I have to say; If Labour are being airbrushed out of society and losing seats and overall support, the blame lies only with Labour. Politicians are here to represent the people and Labour have become so far out of touch with the people they claim to support they could easily be the third biggest party by the next general election. Instead of trying to force feed everyone with mass uncontrolled immigration and label everyone who doesn't agree with them a racist, they should be recruiting leaders who represent the views of people they want to vote for them.

Human rights being eroded? Come on mate, get real.

What utter guff. Defend the NHS, out of touch? Nationalise the Railways, out of touch? Support for the working poor, out of touch. Make the wealthy pay their taxes, out of touch? etc etc.

Let me ask you who took us into the EU? Who signed the Maastricht treaty? Why do we want to be in the EU? For free trade? Well that requires agreeing to free movement. You are being fed propaganda daily & instead of those with power being blamed for the sh*t storm we've had since 2008 they have managed to deflect peoples resentment on to the most powerless in society ie refugees & immigrants. The labour party should remain steadfast in defending the principles on which it was founded & that doesn't inlcude giving in to the 'fear of the other'.

As was Fallon....stop keep telling us we don't know what we voted for....
It was quite clear on the ballot paper.
Remain a member of the European Union......or
Leave the European Union...we voted to leave and that's what looks like happening thankfully.
And Sturgeon, Salmond shafted you by going for the glory himself and called the Scottish referendum too early thinking he would be the messiah rather than waiting to see what happened in the Uk vote. Scotland voted to stay as part of the Uk, then as part of the UK voted to leave the EU. What's so difficult to grasp?

It's a sorry state of affairs when 51.9% of the population are racist, the left have a lot to answer for.

Didn't the majority of the elite want us to remain..certainly the PM of the time, an genuine elitist, the PM now and the ex chancellor, who's about as elite as they come, not to mention thick as they come, add to that the Govenor of the B of E, the President of the United States, all want us to remain?

Does anybody ne think that if the Scots had a second referendum they'd vote for independence? Would they really be able to self finance themselves! Would the EU take them as an independent country?Personally I think they'd still vote to remain part of the UK, they'd be mad not too.
