Quite happy with this

I’ll treat the European Super League with the same reverence I’ll treat crickets 100 - none whatsoever.

This expanded Chumps League sounds like a nightmare anyway. Much easier to completely blank the ESL or whatever they’ll call it

They wouldn't try to persuade the PL that they can run a reserve side that can compete at that level would they?

Why not? The PL are big fans of "B" teams in other clubs' competitions.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

I agree with Neville, refuse them permission to join and dock them all a huge number of points.

I doubt there’s anything in the league’s constitution to allow that, amusing as it would be.

I reckon ‘B’ teams would be a natural progression along with ESL L2 as a carrot with very limited promotion/relegation.

I know that goes against the whole purpose of the Super League but I don’t think it is viable in the long term to have a stand-alone league.

It’ll morph just as everything else does and probably not for the best

When the Americans started running clubs over here it was obvious that football as we know it was going to change.
Look at every major sport over the pond and see how it's run. Football leagues will soon be known as "Majors and Minors" without any chance of promotion into them.

Not sure it has much to do with Americans, it has more to do with rich owners generally.

Rugby Union owners are trying it on as are the richer Cricket Clubs with Test Grounds and they’ve spent the last decade trying to rig the system and failed - hence the 100

Terrible

Eufa aren’t happy - mind you their new Europa Conference Cup for clubs who finish 7th is totally embarrassing

The most embarrassing thing about the completion is that the failures from the Chumps League get free entry into the later stages.

Talk about rewarding failure! Nothing to do with completion, all to dovv by with greed

Whatever they say, it won’t be with the wider good of football in mind.

I switched on the FA Cup semi yesterday late on, saw that Chelsea were winning and Tiago was pretending to be injured. After several minutes and precisely zero minutes of actual football watched I switched it off again. That’s how interesting this league promises to be.

I haven’t given Sky or BT a penny in years and simply don’t watch European football. I used to watch MOTD religiously but VAR has even ruined the highlights, never mind the live games.

The golden goose is starting to pour foie gras down its own neck.
These go to eleven.

This has been coming for years. Outrageous TV deals driven by Sky, the BBC and others have led to more and more greed. The premier league itself is practically a closed shop. The fit and proper person test is embarrassing. The complaints surrounding this is not for ethical reasons, it’s because those in charge can see revenue disappearing. A plague on all their houses.

Problem is the ‘Big 4’ became the ‘Big 6’ and now it is the ‘Big 8’ or even the ‘Big 10’

This is all bargaining by the clubs involved. Release the story. Cause a fuss. Negotiate a new massive Champions league deal. Put super league on back burner until they want another deal. Repeat.

Where are the French and Germans, not much of a super league without them. Feels like a botched coup to me but let’s hope not.

Just watching American Wrestlenania - it has more authenticity than the ESL

I've no sympathy for the premier league. They created this mess. With the obscene amount of money they have been desperate to introduce into the game they have destroyed many aspects of the game we love and for 3 decades have been turning into a house where only the uber-rich can fight for the title whilst other teams are happy to fight for the scraps of trying to stay in the league at the expense of their fans who have to endure dull horrible football trying to eek out points against teams with vast amounts of money more than them every single year, and if you get relegated your unfairly rewarded to give yourselves the best chance of getting straight back. They let all these rich owners into the game, they let player wages rise unstopped to the obscene levels they are today, and now they have created teams with the financial power and clout to be able to go form their own league with all the money in it. They should take a long hard look in the mirror before crying wolf about the ESL
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

Sky are well aware of the lack of mass appeal of the Champions League hence not really competing with BT for the rights at the last round of negotiations and given the 12 team format being touted I doubt it holds any real British wide appeal, hence I don’t think Sky would be interested.
