firstly, we are top of the league with a great team and great manager.

walked away from watching the game on Tuesday evening thinking what a professional performance we'd put in and came away deserved winners, we played like champions on Tuesday. Today i tuned into TNT (have we won on TNT this season btw?) and within minutes it was clear we were struggling to play on the rubber/plastic/fake whatever pitch... coupled with that several players took liberties and got caught in possession or failed to do basics like run and close down, in short we played poorly, naiively and unprofessionally. (I won't bang the Mike Jones drum again)

anyway, we have 3 out of next 4 games at home and whilst we've come off the pace in the last 2 home games, let's hope we can finish this season off in style.

What I can never get to grips with is how, season after season,we fall short against teams lower down the league.Surely if any recent squad was able to turn that around it should be this one?We have more teams to face from lower down, let's see.

As I said on a different thread we did exactly the same in 69/70 losing unexpectedly 4 - 1 at Colchester.

You can't go through a season without having a game when you wonder whether you've ever seen such a cack performance. We've taken until March to have this season's

Even Man City don't win every game (they've lost to Wolves, Villa & Arsenal this season), we lost, we regroup, PC kicks every player that stepped foot on the pitch today, with the possible exception of Tyrer, up the Arsenal, and move on to the next game.

That was a Monday night match only 2 days after we had lost 1-0 at home to Chester 2 defeats in a row was a big shock that season lol

You have to hold your hands up when we see a game like today’s. Every challenge they made had a nudge meant to unsettle us on the ball. They gave us nothing and closed us down all over the pitch and then add our own short comings and 4-1 is the result.

Squad rotation ! is Cook trying to ensure everyone gets the required games in for a season.
God I hate this league.

Cooks interview was superb. Said it like a fan would. One team turned up, one team didn’t. That’s the thing about sport, psychology is such a massive thing. Collectively we didn’t fancy it today. Maybe the pitch. Probably arrogance. Either way we didn’t fancy it. Just like tyson didn’t against buster doulgas or Liverpool didn’t against Wimbledon

It’s just as unreasonable as fans coming on here after watching that and not accepting we were crap and part timers don’t come in to it.
God I hate this league.

So you disagree about us underperforming against teams that on paper we should be beating easily? If so you have only just become a Spireite.
My six decades plus experience as a Spireite invoked that comment.

Completely agree with the second sentence.I watched it and was going mental. However, the first sentence effectively means that great managers never lose games. I’m not saying cook is that, I’m saying that today the players didn’t turn up. Interesting is now how he and his coaching staff react on Monday in terms of intensity of training and then how the team reacts on Saturday

for all the deserved plaudits of this season we have to remember we are 5th tier and as such our players will have off days, unfortunately they decided to all go together today.
saturday will be tough, they've done well of late, they score lots but concede lots. We need to start better on saturday than we have of late, hopefully a near full house with a good atmosphere.

Cack performance was the norm under Saunders and Caldwell, and looking back to some of the 60s and 70s sides they couldn't see out a month before getting stuffed, and at home too.

My point is that even in the championship winning seasons that I can remember, there's always been one game that's been abysmal beyond belief. In my life we've been 3rd, 4th and 5th division. It will always happen. Even in a season where we will smash the club record for points

Let’s put things into perspective, this defeat at Dorking hurts but is nothing to how I felt walking out at Blundell Park after meekly losing 1/0 which pretty much sealed our journey into non-league. We are still 20 points clear and it’s nearly job done

A game at Newport was petty grim
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

As our great manager would say….

And one for the entitled millennials….

Where did Doolan post his outstanding homage to Alan Bennett on here? The one that ends with the coming together at the BBQ? thanks
