this is a truly bizarre situation, the kind of thing you make up, 2 teams having to play a game in the league at a neutral ground, forgive my geography but surely if you were halifax you'd want this as close to hoem as possible, as far as i can make out the following are all closer than Chesterfield; ( i have ignored lancashire simply on the grounds of oldham being lancasterians, so preserving some kind of home advantage)

huddersfield, bradford, leeds, york, harrogate, barnsley, doncaster, rotherham, 2 x sheffield clubs, maybe scunthorpe? hull??? even wakefield has a ground.

did none of these want to host this?

i have no love of oldham but what a total embarassment for halifax this is... so glad to be leaving this amateur league behind.

Yep as a Halifax fan we are as embarrassed as you are. Our inept Chairman and council have made us more of a laughing stock then what we already are. Considering our inept off the field we are and also having one of the smallest budgets in the league, to be in the position we are in the table is truly amazing.

As for the game and its location. It's down to the police forces, seriously that's the honest truth. Accrington were happy to have us again, but police forces all around Yorkshire and Lancashire have said no. Harrogate, York, Accy, Huddersfield had all been mooted and crossed off.

The ironic thing is, this is going to cost us a fortune, especially if we win on Tuesday, and knock Oldham out of the race for a playoff spot.

What could have been a decent crowd at the shay, could end up having 10 men and a dog turn up, if the game is a dead rubber come Thursday kickoff .

So CFC strongly objected to the enforced change of date for the gateshead game due to gatesheads next game, if played on a Thursday would have been to close to the ridiculous early kick offs on saturday. So we have to accept their decision with grace with them playng the "integrity of the competition card". Then f... me the complete farce of the oldham fixture which no one understandably wanted to host for obvious reasons ends up at our gaff on Thursday night a night which was taboo according to the brain(s) trust at NL HQ. What a complete set of hypocrites (Boris step aside)

And then to rub salt into the wounds the powers that be having not taken any action on oldham following their fans behavior at ours, thus not deterring themn from doing similar at Rochdale start crapping themselves as to what may happen next resulting in town fans being restricted at boundary park and now town fans not being aloud into our own gaff to accommodate a set of knuckledraggering tw@s.

Is anyone capable of doing a comparison of the word integrity as betwean the normal version and the NL version?

Oldham were fined for the pitch invasion at ours back in December.

Looks like nobody wants them except Chesterfield. You would think with the experience we had last time with pitch invasion from those knuckle dragging tw@s we would have said get lost too.

What causes the waterlogging down their, is it the drainage system defective or just the lie beneath the Pennines.
God I hate this league.

So underneath the surface is clay, which doesn't help for drainage is the first problem, then add to the fact, when the council who own the ground finished the new stand , filled in the drains with concrete, meaning the corner of the stadium between the home terrace and new stand has even worse drainage. The Home terrace is also too high and the roof should have been clear Perspex, as during the winter months no sun is able to get on the pitch at all, is another problem. Ours is also just a normal grass pitch. Mix in that the Rugby club will play on anything and the council don't give a **** about sport, and it's a proper **** show.

The football club has paid for surveys done on what is required and have the grants prepared and ready to go that will pay for over half the work. But none of the entities involved(football, rugby council) are willing to come to any sort of agreement to fund the rest of the work to get the new drainage and desso pitch installed.

Add to the fact that the council are trying to offload the shay to the two tenants who haven't got a penny to rub together and couldn't organise a urine up in a brewery and that is where our club is at the moment.

Presumably the fact that the egg chasers have only recently started their season and will play through til Sept means the pitch is used year round...that will mean a chance of proper off season work on it wont happen.

Yep, in fairness to the rugby, they often play around 5-6 weeks of away fixtures in a row to allow some remedial work to be done in June. And in fairness to our groundsman who is brilliant,'gets the pitch looking brilliant for the start of the season. It's all for show, as underneath the surface is just a horror show.

And there lies the problem. 5k didn't bother oldhams knuckledraggers 1 iota, just the NL pussyfooting around and sweeping things under the carpet but to be seen to be doing something. Which escalated with the Rochadale ruck and other clubs taking note resulting in the position they now find themselves, with clubs turning their backs on them.

Perhaps they should contact Millwall to avoid voilating plagiarism rights and then adopting the infamous Millwall song off "We are Oldham, no one likes us" etc etc.

I have spoken to manier halifax fan over the years and they echo what you say. The shay is sure one of the better stadiums in the league with a good match day experience, shame about the pitch. Im sure in the past you once played a home game at droylsden due to pitch issues

Doubtful even if they get one. More local clubs will jump at the chance. The Gateshead, Altrincham etc ultras will not be a concern.

They will have played two games at Accrington prior to playing at ours so they may look to go back there.

It's noticeable that the police won't have any more of Oldham if they can possibly avoid it, and who can blame them?
If the National League management had cracked down on them after their disgraceful display here, which unbelievably they denied, then the problem might have gone away. Instead the ridiculous fine will only have encouraged them. Just for the memory - they invaded the pitch and caused the match to be abandoned immediately after an 'equalising' but offside goal. A points deduction should have been the least they got, not fined the small change.
Perhaps if our plod had turned it down as well, then everybody would have refused because of Oldham's fans and the match could have been awarded to Halifax.A more fitting punishment.

And make things extremely difficult if you choose not to follow that advice.
