The End Of Brexit?

We've enjoyed years of, for the most part, friendly jousting. Okay, it's crossed the line a time or two, but regulars who largely know one another have usually left what's said on the board, on the board.
Despite the denials, dodgeries and double standards of which we're all guilty.
However recent times have become a metaphor for society as a whole. 'Isms, 'ists and 'phobias enjoying licence previously unthinkable. Trumpian style tinfoil hattery actually argued as fact. Obviously damaged characters hiding behind anonymity to vent their prejudices, bigotries and increasingly manic hatreds. Whether it be at entire races and religions or individual contributors.
And now we're reduced to discussing if water really is, erm, wet.
Labour will win the next election. Comfortably. In fact if there's any justice the corrupt and incompetent and cronyistic party of Sunak and Truss and Johnson and Reece-Mogg and all too many 'Thirty Pee' Lee Andersons will be utterly destroyed at the ballot box.
Not because a Duncan-esque SKS has offered a bright new tomorrow, but simply because he's offered basic normality. A normality which will, inevitably, include a return to the tariff free trade enjoyed before what happened in the past - ie: a perverted sense of patriotism - was deemed to outweigh what happens in the present. Or, more importantly, future.
I know those who've spent countless posts sneering and sniping and snarling at leftists/pro EU/whoever the Mailesque media tell them to will go ga-ga at post election failings. In, of course, a way they never, ever went ga-ga at infinitely worse right wing failings. That's just what we've come to expect, though. Either way maybe it's time to get off the hamster wheel. Or 'gerbil wheel', in a couple of cases.

Tbh the “is water wet?” Is a perfect microcosm for the board…
An absolute scientific fact being disagreed with….
I think Labour will win… by a majority but not a destroying margin. Regardless the arguing amongst each other, meddling around the edges with no discernible change will continue.
Thankfully WATAW. Because the rest is a bit …poo.
Early night for me. Running a marathon tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!

A lot of words but to pick up on the key bits:
- Labour deny they will rejoin the EU - so why do you thin they will? Ignore the manifesto and just do what they want as they have a big enough majority? Because its a weak point for the Tories (yet many of the most Leave seats were red wall... including Bolsover)
And are you saying in the middle somewhere that Duncanesque SKS will win because he isnt a Tory toff? Ringing endorsement indeed....
I dont think when push comes to shove he will do as well as Tony Blair... but that might depend on how much the SNP implode before the election...

Yet, bizarrely, you can't see your own role in any of it.... that's the worst kind of denial. Your attempt to position yourself as some kind of demigod and morally superior, is truly laughable.
Yet, you're the one with extremist views; the far left bigot, who's constantly firing the 'isms, 'ists and 'phobias enjoying licence previously unthinkable'....as soon as anyone disagrees with you.
There's no debate, by the way; it's your way or no way. You arrogantly believe you're the expert on every subject posted in the personal section. From wars and foreign policy; politics and religion; COVID... funnily enough, talking of those 'facts', where you completely embarrassed yourself; calling for all nurses and doctors to be sacked if they didn't have the jab...you 'followed the science'... and arrogantly labelled everyone who didn't believe that lockdowns and masks were remotely effective, as cranks, loons and conspiracy theory nutjobs....to Brexit, where anyone who voted leave was a nationalist, xenophobic, racist; likewise, anyone who questions our lack of immigration control. There's a pattern.
And then, there's your bizarre, sanctimonious rants, as per above. If you really were such a decent person, you wouldn't personally attack anyone else. However, you can't help yourself. Using intentionally cruel adjectives with abandon, like: damaged, mentally ill, manic, loon, nutjob, crank; along with the isms and phobias. All in an attempt to shut down an opposing viewpoint. A decent person doesn't do that.
And let's not forget the bizarre and equally appalling emails you sent to me. Your weird, armchair psychiatry attempt to psycho analyse me; which was not only strange, but also crude, and showed a level of arrogance I actually cannot fathom. Even incomprehensibly, plumbing to the depths of suggesting my 'disturbed' character had been formed as a consequence of my numerous unsuccessful encounters with women...all the while, criticising my anonymity and wanting to know who I am.
You really are a strange man.

People forget that this forum delivers genuine humour to some posters. This post is funny and worthy of reading twice. I’ve no idea if the poster’s “disturbed character has been formed as a consequence of my unsuccessful encounters with women” But someone posting that is worthy of consideration and a big smile. Made my day after Wealdstone. It’s woke ( great word) and needy. This board requires more of that.

The UK will be Europe’s best-performing major economy in the next 15 years, narrowing the gap with Germany and extending its lead over France, according to new long-run forecasts.
The Centre for Economics and Business Research predicted that GDP growth in the UK will settle between 1.6% and 1.8% in the period up until 2038, helping it retain its position as the world’s sixth-largest economy.
The forecasts published Tuesday predict that the UK will shake off an economic malaise lasting years that has been defined by Brexit and a string of shocks, including the pandemic and surging inflation.
Which kind of contradicts what you have said.... and means your conclusion is based on sand.
The CEBR? Not had a great record on forecasting especially re India and China which were misleadingly easy. You invest money. What are your financial consultants saying? Stop kidding a kidder. Forecasting up to 2038? Goodness me.

So who is saying otherwise? I at least provided something to suggest the opposite, you have provided - your opinion.
And agreed most people cant forecast this year - including the BoE. But then I wasnt the one suggesting relying on long term forecasts, you were doing that. So now you are saying your forecasts arent reliable too... good argument.
Lets agree no one knows, so many other factors will come up it will be hard to tell the cause, and it will just come down to what you believe in. I believe we voted out so get on with it.

ThReform UK has hit its highest-ever level of support in the Red Wall, a new poll has found in the latest sign of its growing popularity.
Richard Tice’s party is now on 14 per cent of the vote across 40 of the mostly Northern, traditionally Labour-held seats won by the Conservatives at the last election.
The survey, conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on Tuesday and Wednesday, shows Reform has increased its support in these constituencies by three points since December.ought you might have posted this one...
So red wall voters who voted leave are still supporting a party that supports borders - but you still think Labour will take us back in...
Of course you could say that these voters will now vote for anyone except Labour

But then the restrictions on movement have definitely added more than £8 a week to the minimum wage.... so yet again a media outlet just picking a random fact and not showing it in the round.

well NMW has gone up from £9.50 to £11.44 since 2022, as a result of labour shortages and other factors. Its gone up £1.02 just this year. I make that about £40 a week for a full time worker....
Lots of other things have gone up of course, and some of the increase is caused by other factors. But if I wanted to be a journo for a red top I could say that workers are £40 a week better off as a result of brexit!

No, mate.
Because as repeatedly pointed out at the time, we'll never again get the 'Germany-plus' deal we enjoyed.
However what I believe we will see are negotiations to overcome the barriers currently inflicting a five percent hit on the UK economy. Discussions slowly but surely taking us back towards tariff free arrangements negating bureaucracy hammering British business. The kinda agreements industry and commerce are crying out for but Sunak daren't initiate for fear of his right.
I'm fact my guess is we'll witness summat similar to the Norway thing within the next ten years...

And now inflation is below the Eurozone rate, growth is higher than the eurozone rate.... leaving the EU is hurting someone, clearly
Next they will be reporting that the lead in polls is declining. Oh, wait....
(Before you say anything Chris, you dish it out when the numbers suit you so you have to expect some back when they dont... but I'd be interested to know what your thoughts are on how things are really going and not the remoaners spiel on it)
