Finally the question is asked of Jack (well done Joe) in this interview, got himself injured (!) or would have travelled Saturday and not fit enough, in short doesn't have the desire Jack rightly desires

In the twilight of his career yet has fully bought into Jack's regime and is making critics look stupid. Very stupid.
I guess that's the difference between those that make the Premier League and those that drift into obscurity...

Strange isn't how some players can't put the effort in? Bobby Charlton could shoot with the same (high) power in either foot, because he put in extra practice after team training was over, a similar reason Beckham could pass so accurately.
And yet some youngsters can't even be bothered to meet the standards set for all the team, including a 36 year old.

However Evatt performances does fly in the face of Jack's insistance that you can't do the job with a high body fat percentage

and to think GC banned Evo from doing additional fitness work with a PT, in between training sessions, despite EVo saying he didn't feel he was doing enough with the squad in training.

I assume he will be gone in January by 'mutual consent'

Agreed. One of the few managers whose interviews are worth listening to, and who does not make me just think they are mouthing cliches, platitudes or outright bull.

Indeed. Lester has made a very diplomatic statement about players getting themselves fit and then actually making an impact.

Why do we continue to employ players if they are not fit enough to play?
If I was employed to write a column and could manage only two lines I'd be expecting the sack. If after two lines my work was so bad it couldn't be published I'd also expect the sack. The entire job of a player is to play. That clearly involves being able to play 90 minutes at the level the club requires.
For that reason I think, like Damian Green's computer, there has to be more to this than meets the eye and the more we are told the more questions it raises.
However, I do agree Steve Kendall 1982 on the question of making an impact. Eventually players do have to come through and do it. But nine minutes for Ricky German is reminiscent of Kevin Hector getting three minutes to save the World Cup.
I'm all for Jack Lester, but he did enough dodgy stuff in his own career to be able to offer a wise and understanding ear to players who are becoming men and still acting like boys. If he can charm so many cynical and crumbly old fans, surely he has the ability to have these young lads running through a brick wall to play for him IF HE THINKS THEY HAVE A FUTURE.
