You know why it is ..its because the majority of the young candidates sponsored into moving up the leagues quickly are yes men, look how hard steve baines found it many years ago, people who have actually played the game were not wanted and still are not. -

An example that springs to mind is Tom Curtis. In the basement league he looked like nothing more than a willing runner but when we got into the league above we suddenly had a player.
Conversely , Phil Robinson dint have anything like the same influence in the league above as he did in the basement.
Bit of difference curtis was 20 when he joined us with fresh legs he could grow into a better league with natural improvement whereas jacobs is 32 -

For what it’s worth (not much), my hunch is that Jacob’s will be a more influential player at the higher level than he was this year. That said, I’d love Banks to be in the squad next year too but we probably have to accept that we can’t keep everybody and add the type of quality that we all want so he may be the sacrificial lamb here
Id love to know how the theory about playing better in a higher league works, although i will accept jacobs did not have a pre season, for me he isnt a 90 minute player and i feel he probably needs to up his goal tally -

Total Goal Contributions (combined goals & assists including cup):
Grigg: 29
Mandeville: 25
Dobra: 20
Naylor: 18
Banks: 15
Jacobs: 15
Quigley: 14
Colclough: 11
Berry: 10
Taken from another thread, Jacobs is pleasing on the eye but I didn't expect him to have as many contributions
Id have thought banks was well clear of jacobs, where are these figures from

06 May 2013 - 11:06Had my hand pinned back together on Saturday and there's no way I can play. Do you have the full complement now? If so, can I get my money back please? I'll try to make it to the Proact as a spectator but can't drive yet. Thanks for organising it and I hope you make a few quid for charity- is it Help for Heroes again this year?
