He definitely needs to find more consistency. I make that 21 outfield players (assume Connor Cook not in the 22) So say for arguments sake we’re looking at a RB, LB and a centre half, then there’s probably going to be a few out of the door, or not included in the first part of the season.

I've got us down as having 20 outfielders excluding Cook, am I missing someone?

    • Branden Horton
    • Tom Naylor
    • Jamie Grimes
    • Liam Mandeville
    • Darren Oldaker
    • Will Grigg
    • Michael Jacobs
    • Ryan Colclough
    • Tyrone Williams
    • Bailey Hobson
    • Armando Dobra
    • James Berry
    • Ash Palmer

    • Joe Quigley
    • Ollie Banks
    • Mike Jones
    • Kane Drummond

Strong, good on the ball, fantastic dribbler for his position, can pass a bit and is young enough to have space to improve. Also left footed which helps with the balance that Cook will want.

It's quite possible that Naylor is going to be the 'Jones replacement' and TA will be given licence to get forward a bit to make use of his strengths.

    He's right footed, bud.

I like this. Low risk, 1 year, doubt we'll be chucking much at him in the way of wages. There's definitely a player in there. He can carry the ball, he tackles and harries well, I just wonder where he's earmarked to play. I know he's a CM, but is he good enough to play frequently in that role in L2? Him and Naylor could be tasty, lots of energy and both can defend and get forward.

    Enjoying our business so far.

I see the Stockport local rag journo has told Liam at the DT that Madden is an out and out 'number nine'

Looking at his County goals that’s how he seems to me, although by definition the highlights don’t show his other contributions.

He also goes on to say this:

    Quote

"He's always been a striker who's thrived off linking up with others, both as the finisher and the assister. He had featured more and more as a 'ten' for Stockport though; he has wonderful vision, a great eye for a pass, and is willing and able to drop deep and make things happen creatively."

He's clearly a clever player, I expect we'll see him up front on his own at times, then playing behind Grigg in the 10 role at others.

Anyone heard any more on Conn-Clarke?

I'd say you can kiss that one goodbye given the signing of Madden and his ability to play as central attacking mid/shadow striker.
