I'm unsure of the relevance to us. Keeping us in this league whilst having both arms tied behind one's back is success.
"and a pair of those Geoff Mitchell glasses, please."

He took Cambridge up from the basement in 98-99. I believe he had Martin Butler and Traveor Benjamin up front and they finished 2nd in the league.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Who mentioned relevance to our situation ?

I just asked the question, if you don't know the answer then it just means your trying to be a smart bottom....

How could that be Ernie? Surely McFarland is a genius with no money, how could they possibly have gone down?

Does it maybe prove he can only be succesful if hes given money to buy players like Butler and Benjamin?

If he did buy them and not bring them through then he certainly made them a tidy profit. Don't think what happened at Cambridge is relevant to us. His side got sold from under him in a very short space of time giving him no time to recover. Here he's had f all but has had time to try and build a competitive squad with the odd player here and there.

Honest question for you Ern. Bearing in mind McFarland has been here 4 years, that would suggest time to build the so called competetive squad that you talk of, why do you think some performances have been so abject this season and a majority of others decidedly average? Are the players not good enough or are they competetive and McFarland's tactics / motivation etc are poor?

the squad lacks quality.we have three or four players who can get into a few sides at this level, half a dozen who are about at thier limit, and ten who are here because they are cheap, and being a "pro footballer" beats working in asda or mcdonalds.

we get what we can afford. which isnt much.
A new hope.
