Ward isn't the same build as Folan, no but both their roles in the side is to score goals, so he is his replacement.

If we'd have had Ward and Folan together we'd probably have been awesome upfront but that's the law of sod for you. Unfortunately we've still only got one proper (not too old/prolific) striker. And he's injured.
Given that Allison is wrapped in cotton wool by McFarland to a considerable extent (and was inexplicably not played with Ward initially despite it being glaringly obvious that he should be) we still lack a big, fit, mobile striker to replace Folan. McFarland has acknowledged this.
