yes, I suppose if it was the times we would be laughing about it- just on a downer with the thought of this team being broken up and sold off...and I do think it will be

I don't see why you think like that da as much as any wants to see good football . players might be sold if they don't sign new deals but we can't afford for them to walk away for nothing

Yes, if we can get a fee now rather than letting them walk away for nothing then it makes sense from a financial view.
A new hope.

Gosport now that is a shithouse

I worked between Portsmouth an Southampton and I chose Southampton like others did, that says it all

Must admit Pompey is good for a urine up, especially if you are a fan of Walkabout type places

Walkabout closed down a few years ago.

At one point in Portsmouth there were more pubs per head than another other university city.

Gospit is a Mansfield though

Gosport was great in the early 90s until the Navy started shrinking. The local businesses suffered greatly, loads of pubs closed, now a real dive. Did some of my best work in Emma's, or the RN School of Dancing (West) as it was also known.

The missus lived in fratton, then moved to Gosport in the late eighties, as you say ,went downhill very quickly with the shrinking navy in the nineties, things started to improve for her,
when she came to town and met me.

My old man grew up in the navy housing in rowner. Think its been flattened? He loved it there and is very sad about state of Turk town these days. Certainly used to have an edgy feel to a night out in Gosport.

Having lived in Southampton, Portsmouth, Fareham. Titchfield Common and Lee-on-the-Solent, I can say with confidence that Southampton is the worst option for someone who works between Southampton and Portsmouth - by a mile!

I have found in my experience, the people of Southampton to be more intelligent and obviously of a higher caste than those of Portsmouth.

That is probably because Southampton is the cultural capital of that area, it has 2 proper universities and it is the headquarters for just about every organisation that need headquarters in that area.

It has an airport, a working seaport, a massive cricket stadium and of course a premiership football team

Although not photogenic it is a living city with a thriving football club unlike its neighbour that lives on past (and distant) glories
