Went to ground today and drove by without noticing! :blush:Imprssive as such but personally I'd have lumped the cost together and had one bigger single spire.
Whats with the "Apple" on the Tesco side that was put into position today?

Apple! What apple is that then, anyone else seen this apple, or should we be concerned about someone seeing giant apples?

I'd have put the money towards a scoreboard or a clock at least. How many grounds don't have a clock somewhere?

The club had no choice in the matter. Any new build over a certain cost in Chesterfield has to have a piece of artwork commissioned as part of the planning approval, usually it is some sort of sculpture. It is called 'percent for art' and is intended to give something back that the local community can enjoy. The biggest one I know of is the Labyrinth at Tapton park that was created when they built the technology park up at Tapton House. (Next time you are at the ground have a glance at the park on the hill).
I assume the apple is the Tesco artwork.

Which I suppose saves having to get up off your 'arris, go up Sheffield Road and ask people.

Exactly how big is this apple? Can’t imagine “Apple computers” being too happy, didn’t they try and sue someone for trying to use it, or was that the Beatles?

I really wanted to have a nosey and completely forgot...
I pottled in from the town side corner, saw dave, got me sign, and wandered up to the top end to get in the ground fully focused on my pint. On the way out I got distracted by free Cola.

Just seen the famous apple today, and I am actually impressed, it looks a very good piece of “Modern Art” and complements our Spires very well indeed, in my humble opinion. I don’t know what an “art critic” would make of it, but as it is liked by one of the masses (i.e. me), they would probably stick their nose up at it!

Are we sure it is the Tesco’s art work, as there seems to be an element of football imagery in your photos!
