Are Referees Ever Sacked?

It must be the only occupation where you can get away for years with repeatedly being rubbish apart from being an MP. Many of us can remember when refs were part time and had other jobs, now they are fully professional but no better. Yes, it is a difficult job, but that's why they have assistants - I notice the fad of calling them referees assistants never really caught on - and most people still refer to them as linsemen. My gripe is that most refs seem to ignore their assistants / linesmen and only rarely consult with them over a decision.
The assessors appear to be pointless as how often is a referee sacked for repeated incompetence?
As I say it is a difficult job and I certainly wouldn't want to do it. It often makes me wonder how they get enough referees. Maybe that's part of the problem? Assessors are reluctant to give then bad reports or to suggest they are disciplined because they have difficulty recruiting them?
Anyhow the clown last night showed how important the ref is and how he can totally influence a result. The old adage remains the best refs are the ones you don't notice.

It’ll be interesting to see if last nights idiot get a game this week at NL level, or will be be demoted for a game or two or “rested”.

I just assumed they got demoted to a lower league. Must be on some sort of point / performance basis as there is an assessor.
I guess then they eventually drop down the leagues and land at local football if they haven't realised already that they are w@ñk and quit

The national League must know the standard of refereeing is tripe . No one who was in the ground or even watching on TV could fail to notice he didn't have a scooby doo what he was doing

Looking at the Rate the Ref forum that has listings of appointments he doesnt appear to have a game in the NL or NLN\NLS this Saturday. He is down for this game next week which is the only one i can find for him currently on that site :-
Thu 28th Sep 2023
Leeds United AFC (Reserve Team) v Undecided (Reserve Team)
PL International Cup
Referee: Jackson, Aaron
Assistant Referee: Jones, Callum
Assistant Referee: Jones, Matthew
Fourth Official: Burgin, Melissa
His stats for NL and above are on Soccerbase, second time he's booked 8 in a game. He's done 4 NL and an EFL Trophy game so far this season and amassed 18 yellows and 5 reds, twice he's sent of two in a game.

Considering that a lot of league 2 clubs are smaller than a few in the National league it wouldn’t make an iota of difference. A knob head is always a knob head.

Why would a youngster want to take up officiating?
Don’t forget we are National League. The players are semi professional as a rule so why expect top officials?

Is this a serious post. Did you see the game last night? It is the worse performance I have seen in 60 years without a doubt and this is a forum for debate/discussion
We don’t expect top officials we expect competent ones, and ones who understand the laws of the game.
Any youngest watching last night would be thinking I can do a lot better than this.

Hey I’ve no doubt the red was awful. (Clearly he was)- but competence isn’t relative - 3 seasons ago we almost got relegated to National League North. Every player was obviously incompetent as well then.
You see the point?
