Iwouod say it is. Whej I was last in a few days ago all seemed well with the building would probably just need restocking. The staff are worth taking back on too

I am not sure many pubs outside of the south east are good businesses any more. When I worked in the industry the view was that a good food offer would see you profitable, but there are so many places doing that now. If you get a rep for being a pub full of winos that will kill trade. You need to be on a circuit and stay on it, but also be respectable and attract families for food. Not as easy in Chesterfield as the south and of course doesn’t help if you have a Wetherspoons a few doors away.

The White swan had all that: food on, families welcome etc and competed with weatherspoons on quality not price

Lease is listed at 25k stating it does 500k a year turnover - however advert also says 100% wet trade which wasn’t true

And the food is what you’d expect for the price, nowt fancy but ok and perfectly acceptable
The spa lane vaults will never match the lager selection in the white swan. Estrella, hoffmeister, krombacher, Carling premier and many more. I love abbot ale too but it always seemed fresher at the swan? As for food you can't get a Sunday lunch in weatherspoons and the chips are just McCains? No live bands too

Too many options will mean less volume per brand so not so good prices.
You have to make a choice with food - quality and charge the price, or cheap and cheerful with minimum chef requirement and keen prices. If you are too expensive for the quality, or too average for the price, sales and margin will suffer...

started to struggle when einsteins opened & has gone downhill over last 12mths.
never open on time sat dinner & then never ready for serving/taking food orders.
some of the staff gave the impression it was a chore serving.
shame really as its a decent pub but id expect someone to be running it by start od season.

Totally agree which is why I reckon there's maybe more to it than meets the eye like was there problems with the lease of did the pubs parent company (raw brewery) run into trouble with HMRC. Einstein's has been open for a bit now probably as long as white swan so can't see that been the reason it shut. Food service was always efficient when I was in mostly for Sunday lunch
