You really want clubs kicked out of the league for that reason?

    Just dont want double standards

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out there is an element that they don’t want poorly supported clubs like Gateshead weakening the league any further so probably didn’t give them any benefit of the doubt. As far as your suggestion about demotion, that just smacks of bitterness and anyway it is easier to prevent a promotion than sanction a relegation. I’d expect measures like that would require EFL clubs voting on it - another case of turkeys voting for Christmas.

While were are on the subject why are Gateshead so poorly supported when the likes of South Shields get very respectable attendances and came from absolutely nowhere. I know Gateshead is just across the river from Newcastle but South Shields is hardly remote. Does South Shields have more identity than Gateshead?

Apart from the fact s shields are further than newcastle they are better supported as for the past few seasons they win most games and they have bought the bought the chairmans spiel, bang wagon jumpers soring to mind, a decade ago 80 were watching them. They have got a reality check this season and are now for sale

With a bit of luck they'll ban clubs with three sided grounds next, but joking apart, whether it be the premier league, the EFL or the National League, why can't there be fairness in every case. I know it may be asking a lot but we have Forest and Everton losing points while others carry on regardless, Southend being allowed to carry on even though they've had more takeover hiccups than there were Rocky films and Gateshead banned from taking place in the playoffs because they're not wanted in the EFL. These bodies have made the rules, so stick to them for all, not the few.

Would be intresting to know how many efl clubs have iffy leases on stadiums think thats my biggest gripe, yes i know rules dont apply to existing clubs but they should be so any clubs who dont have a ten year lease or more have say 2 year to get one or are demoted out the league.

Did Macclesfield have serious financial difficulties in 2017?
If they did then the EFl are possibly making a good decision now about Gateshead as they (Macclesfield) went busy a couple of years after?

Gateshead have not got serious finanacial issues, macclesfield did when promoted and only lasted 2 seasons in the efl. No one is questioning gatesheads financial positoon

But why does it matter having a lease for 10 years if you arent financially viable - and there is no way they get anyone to sign off that is the case. A lease means nowt if you are bankrupt...

I'd say if Gateshead have a break clause with 3 years notice, that gives them 3 years to find somewhere new which is perfectly fine and better than having a 10 year contract and no money or prospects!

Or to put it another way, would Southend have been allowed to take part if their takeover still hasnt gone through...?

Known the efl probably southend would have been allowed in whos takeover has not gone through yet fully. The efl allowed macclesfield in who had serious financial issues
